I tested this with “Rock Band—The Beatles” and found it rather pointless. Unless you’re simply opposed to lifting the instrument controller for overdrive this is unnecessary.

Wow, they kind of went all out. This stompbox looks like a real stompbox for a real guitar.
If you want some effects pedals for your rockband game, this will work nicely.

this piece of harware in my opinion its pointless, it just gets in the way while you are playing it
most of the time you will be missing hitting the thing un less you are all the time stepping on it
it just feel nicer when you lift your guitar to let the energy flow, i dont recommend it

For some reason our Rockband guitars were horrible at going into overdrive mode with the regular lift. You’d have to stand up and really flick the things to get them to do anything, so we avoided using them and instead played with Guitar Hero guitars even though we preferred the stylishness of the Rockband guitars. Penetrate the overdrive pedal and the tale changed. Overdrive is so much simpler to realize with this small thing and if you’re unfamiliar with a song or still a beginning player you’re much less likely to lose your rhythm in an attempt to realize overdrive. Plus it’s solid and sturdy so even if you do happen to kick it around, it will take a beating. Very pleased with the product.

Wow, this stomp box really sucks. I can’t believe other people are giving it clear reviews. So what’s incorrect with this thing? The button is too small and requires too much pressure to activate.
The purpose of a stomp box is that it’s a better way to activate Overdrive than tilting the controller or critical the Back button on the guitar. The tilt sensor is unreliable, and even when it does work, tilting the guitar causes me to miss clarification, which defeats the purpose of going into Overdrive. And there’s no way I can hit the back button without messing up, either.
So a foot pedal is the best solution for people like me. Unfortunately, this particular stomp box just doesn’t work well. The button is small and hard, which means you’ll need to be wearing shoes (preferably sneakers) in order to press it. I don’t wear shoes inside the house, so this is a conundrum. What makes this worse, but, is that the button needs to be pressed all the way in, and that requires a significant amount of force.
Not only that, but the button is located in the middle of the box, which is over an inch thick. This means that you cannot rest your foot against the box and just lean forward. You have to in fact lift your foot and step on the middle of the box. That breaks your concentration.
I will probably hack this box to get it to work the way I want it to. I’m just glad I got it for free.
Another thing to keep in mind is that this box works only with the Rock Band 2 guitars. If you have an grown-up guitar (e.g. for RB1, like I do), you will need to hack the guitar to add a 1/8th in jack (see [...]).
The salt on the wound is the price. Thirty bucks for a metal box with a unadorned friend switch? What a rip-off!
