Product Description
X-Men: Next Dimension plunges players into a powerful enemy’s plot to rid the world of mutants. Leaving traditional section-based fighting sports meeting in its wake, X-Men: Next Dimension is the only console fighter game that carries epic superhero showdowns across unrestrained 3-D levels. Players fight as 20 different X-Men characters (plus four secret characters to be unlocked) owing to interactive environments, replete with combat-induced hurt.Amazon.com Review
Playing X-Men: Next Dimension requires looking at the moves menu. A lot. If you’re the kind of person who likes to memorize lists of moves–maybe even finds it fun as it gives you a sense of accomplishment–this game is for you. If you just want a game to play with some friends without cramming as if for an exam, you’d be better off with another fighting title.
But who doesn’t like the X-Men? They’re all represented here. The biggies (both excellent and terrible): Wolverine, Rogue, Storm, and Cyclops, plus Magneto, Mystique, and Sabretooth. Other favorites also made the cut, including Gambit, Nightcrawler, and Forge. The backgrounds are terrific, and in a particularly impressive design element, you can drift into other landscapes from your original map. For example, if, while fighting from inside Dr. X’s mansion, you throw your opponent out the dialogue box, you’ll find yourself outside on the garden map. It’s a excellent trick, and it nearly makes the load time between sports meeting reasonable (rematches are quick, but reloads that change environments are painfully slow).
Each character has their own special “super meter” attacks, all of which become the mutant potential detailed in the comic books. Playing one-on-one with friends in versus mode, you can calibrate your character so adept players have less energy for a more balanced game. These touches are appreciated. So while it’s not as addictive as Tekken or any similar benchmark game, X-Men: Next Dimension still has appeal, with a practically well-thought-out game design and endearing character elements. –Jennifer Buckendorff
Pros:
- Plenty of fan pleasers, including the chance to unlock excellent-ancient-days golden-haired and blue costumes
- Really cool combo attacks, unique to each character
- Voice work by Patrick Stewart
Cons:
- Requires honest memorization of moves

Nevermind I bought this game and it [stinks]….BIG TIME..sorry..I was misled obviosusly by XBOX previews.. I reflect I will buy an XBOX instead. The combos are kinda cool..Tale mode [stinks] it forces you to play as forge. Characters are made up of huge hideous polygons. What a dissipate of cash.

This game is really challenging, but splendid once you get used to the controls. The only major gripes I have are:
1) Mystique’s voice over is HORRIBLE. It was so much better in Mutant Academy 2.
2) Look at Betsy. She’s fit and has a cool stance go. Now look at Psylocke. OMG! She looks FAT and her enterance and winning go bites.
3) Dark Phoenix. Um… is there a point why she’s here? It’s just Phoenix with PMS.
4) Sentinel A is EXTREMELY challenging, but Sentinel B is… simple as pie. Hint: Use Wolverine if you can to fight Sent. B. It’s much simpler.
5) The ending of the Season Mode. (Where Magneto shakes Cyclops’s hand. Yeah, right. As if he would just let them waltz out, unharmed.
But besides these flaws, this game is really splendid. And the price isn’t expensive, like most of the PS2 sports meeting

This game is splendid! I bought it expecting a dull, simple game with terrible graphics, but what I got was a fun, hard game with splendid graphics! Ok, maybe a small bit too hard, but hey, it’s pretty excellent.
