Beware of any new video game that is discounted from the typical $49.99 pricing. This game had so much potential, but the poor camera angles, the slow game play and the ripoff of Resident Evil makes this game a huge disappointment for this avid gamer and X-File fan and the only reason I gave this game two stars is because of the voice talents of Gillian and David.

I am a huge fan of both The X-Files and the video game industry. And when the X-Files: Resist or Serve was announced a few months ago, I was very excited. But eventually, my excitement fell into worrying, and now I really don’t care much about the game anymore. But from what I saw in terms of footage of the game made me have even more twisted feeling. the graphics were excellent, the fighting system seemed excellent, and the game took place in Colorado, which, living in Colorado, I was thrilled to hear about. In the two minutes of footage that i saw, Scully ran over a android on her way into the small town where the game takes place. Then Mulder found her, went to look for help in a nearby diner, and encountered a gruesome android-like creature ready to devour him. Sound familiar? I thought so too, being the fan of Resident Evil that I am, and it looked to me like this would just be an X-Files flavored RE ripoff. In fact, I was about half-there. Mulder fights monsters very much the same way Chris Redfield does in RE. In fact, the only thing that kept this from being another RE clone was Scully’s role in the game. She really doesn’t do much fighting. Instead, she puts on her medical gear and performs autopsies throughout most of the game. The formula seems fascinating, but will it work? We’ll just have to find out…
After 1998 brought us that other horrid X-Files game, fans like me deserve a splendid new game featuring the world’s most legendary T.V. federal agents. I really hope that Resist or Serve is a excellent game, and with some more production work, it is headed down the excellent road to victory!

Well, the X-Files is back…in videogame form at least. And it was well worth the wait. As an X-Phile, I am extremely pleased with the game, and I recommend it to all X-Philes. For the avid gamer (but not necessarily a fan of the show), you will certainly delight in this game. It is a lot of fun, and creepy at the same time. It really draws you in, and it’s not some walk in the park. Well worth taking a look at. One of my favorites already.

I would divide video sports meeting into 4 groups:
Group I: The huge stuff is right and the small stuff is right. These are the truly splendid sports meeting, like GTA 3 and Halo.
Group II: The huge stuff is incorrect and the small stuff is right. These are fun, if ultimately unfullfilling sports meeting. I would place Bully in this category. The concept wasn’t splendid, but they did well with it to make a fun game.
Group III: Terrible huge picture and terrible details. I’ve never in fact played a game like this, but I take upon yourself that they exist.
Group IV: The huge picture is excellent, but the details are lacking. This is what this game is, and it is the type of game that annoys me to no end. Reflect Fable or pretty much every title place out by EA Sports. That it COULD be a very excellent game is clear in playing, but that the makers simply didn’t place enough effort into the details of the game to make it splendid. Since, in the end, it disappoints so frequently it isn’t even excellent.
So, let me talk a bit about what is incorrect with the game.
First, it isn’t really in a genre. Rather, it flirts with elements of different genres (Action, puzzle, etc), but not enough of any to grant fascinating gameplay.
Second, they tried to have more deatil for the main characters than they could pull off. The result was a very android-like, Mulder and Scully…
Third, the camera angles were handled horribly. It is one thing to have a pure 2rd-person perspective. But, the changes in camera location (and often having them flip 180 degress!) was terrible. You would be running and the camera would cut and throw off your management. This is especially hard during action scenes such as the fight with the sherriff…
I could go on, but I won’t. This game is acceptable for an X-Files fan, but under no circumstances should anyone else buy it. Even X-Files fans will be more disappointed than pleased…

well, this game started off looking really cool, i mean the graphics are splendid and YOU’RE MULDER running around with a flashlight and pistol, what could be cooler?
sadly, the gameplay is very much what you’d expect from a subpar game.. running around, it LOOKS kind of like indigo prophecy which is very excellent, but without any of the excellent parts of that game.. you run around and when you walk next to something that requires an action, an “X” appears on the screen. so it’s just a matter of finding X’s! takes all thought out of it. when you run around, the camera changes, so let’s say you run down.. the screen changes and suddenly you’re supposed to be moving the controller UP! this happens over and over and is really irritating. again, it LOOKS splendid. it just isn’t fun to PLAY. to compound that conundrum, you have to run around areas that look similar, so it’s very disorienting and perplexing, running up.. oh wait, am i running down or up? where am i?!
you have a notebook with clarification from scully.. unfortunately the clarification are HANDWRITTEN! making them really hard to read, at least on my TV. and besides, who wants to READ during a PS2 game?
on to shooting.. shooting is “meh.” it could certainly be worse, but could certainly be better. it’s just not very excellent. i gave up on this game pretty quick.. an x-files game is a cool thought, but didn’t like this one.
