Not only is this “game” PAGAN (!!!) like all fantasies, but it is also SATANIC (BAPHOMET Belt Buckle Satan), and teaches children to contempt and disregard JESUS and his MIRACLES. According to my stepdaughter, the game lets players use a MAGICK SPELL (!!) that lets them WALK ON WATER just like the LORD!!! This is the ultimate in blasphemy. How is a CHILD supposed to know the PROFOUNDNESS of the LORD’s MIRACLES if HE can just log onto the interwebs and do those same MIRACLES himself?!?! The game maker’s anti-family LIBERAL bias is proved also, by the fact that now they have made my 16 years ancient stepdaughter rebelious and mandatory her to DISRESPECT me after I took this “game” away from her for it being ungodly. Children are not supposed to reflect for themselves. WHAT ABOUT JESUS?!?!? This is inducitive of all of LIBERAL culture, trying to make Children independent thinkers. AMERICA dosent need “critical” thinkers, because all they do is criticise GOD. I’ll bet obama lets his children play this trash. The game makers blatent SATANISM is evident in the name of their company. Blizzard Entertainment? The Norsemen belived that HELL was cold. Need I say any more?

At one point in Warcraft characters are questioned to use a device on a prisoner until the prisoner releases a certain location. You are told it’s OK for your character to torture as you are not bound by restrictions. The item you use to torture (as stated in game), “inflicts incredible pain”. The human character you torture pleads for the player to stop. Just something to reflect about.

If you’re looking for a excellent release player game, or delight in meeting aorund for hours talking to people you don’t know on the internet, WoW might be right for you. Otherwise steer clear and save yourself a boatload of cash.
Leveling up to 70 can be fun, there is enough to do to avoid grinding at least with your first character. Once you’re there though, the game screeches to a bloody halt.
PvP is lackluster, pointless, and wholly unenjoyable.
Raids are enjoyable if you like meeting around for hours.
Every character in late game is identical both in equipment and abilities for a given class.
Blizzard also chose to completely ruin Warcraft’s back tale too.
Play something else.

This may be a wonderful game. Or it may not be. Sometime next week I may find out. There were problems loading the game from the discs; that took two days to resolve, what with the limited hours the Blizzard tech support desk is available. And now that it’s loaded, it is on its second day of downloading required patches. I have a DSL connection, but due to a number of factors the tech support desk couldn’t help me with (or maybe was giving me the runaround on) it is downloading at dial up speeds. When you have several Gb to download – and the accumulated patches really are that huge – this is going to take a while.
As for the package as a whole, the two “bonus” guides are miniature versions of the originals, which means the many graphics and especially the tables and maps are of very inferior quality to the original. I had to resort to a magnifying glass to read some of the text.
Since this is an online, pay-to-play game, the registration process required an upfront credit card, PayPal, or game card account. I inquired about this, since the box implies you get 30 days free with the buy of the game (which, by the way, is slipping away while my computer downloads all the patches) and I received a disingenuously worded comeback about avoiding interruption of game play time when the trial cycle runs out. You pay at the beginning of each subscription cycle and all the options except the game card renew automatically unless you cancel. Thus Blizzard gets their cash even if you don’t want to keep playing, unless you manage to make that unseen deadline to cancel the subscription.
Finally, I must say, that as I have periodically monitored the status of the “realms” (areas where your character is assigned to play)over the last few days, it appears that they are out of service a lot – at least once every three or four days. Sometimes they are out for hours. I rather doubt Blizzard gives you credit for those times, either.
So, reflect hard about whether you want to spend cash on this. The Amazon price is not discounted, so you may be able to find it cheaper at a local retailer. The books included aren’t much of a bargain, given their poor quality, and you can find all the information in them on online forums, so you may get a much better deal buying the basic program and the upgrade separately. Finally, if you do buy it, realize you won’t be able to play it straight away. Between installation issues and the required patch download times, it will be days or longer before you can play, and you’ll need to leave your computer tied up downloading the patch files during most of that time.
On the whole: not recommended

This game is worse than heroin. I had a mistake once of giving my account to my nephew as a birthday gift. My sister doesnt speak with me anymore. The game is optimized to get you addicted. The main goal of the creators of the game is that you spend the most amount of time playing it. The size of the world for example is optimized so that you can run for the longest time from one side to the other without getting pissed and leaving the game. The game itself is an infinite grind without a goal. They just make any effort to keep you there without any particular long-term purpose.
What you get addicted to is dopamine – a small pleasure hormone that is broadcast around your brain when you receive a reward. This is to let your brain know that you did something excellent. In normal life you dont get rewarded so often because of real-life constraints. In wow you get rewarded small-by-small every time you kill a small or a huge monster or play a player-versus-player game. So you get a small puff of dopamine every five minutes. Our brains are not ready to handle this. This is worse than heroin for them, because soon you learn that you cannot leave this small series of puffs. An addiction develops.
I played this game since 2005. I quit a few months ago and had horrible headaches for a few weeks. The same happened to several my friends. So if you are buying this “product” for someone its better be your enemy. In my opinion they should make this game illegal or place a tax on it like on tobacco or alcohol. At least the government should (and believe me will!) place a warning on this game about its addictive nature. At some point heroin was legal but eventually the law caught up with it.
wowdetox is a volunteer-run website dedicated to helping ppl with addiction to World of Warcraft. It contains 45k+ posts of addicts. Read a few before you buy.
