I bought this game and owned it for a week. I also own WE9. I have been playing Fifa since the days of sega genesis; some versions have really sucked and some have been splendid. I reflect fifa 06 and fifa 07 are at the top, in order of rank in the fifa franchise in terms of fun and by and large gameplay. Pro evol. soccer controls seemed hard to figure out. There were just too many options to be worthwhile (while one could say fifa doesn’t have enough options–be that as it may). The by and large layout of the game just seemed perplexing and non-intuitive. Navigation is frustrating. The players in gameplay seemed overly mechanical, more so than in fifa. Contracted, the graphics are probably better in pro evol. soccer. Let’s not even go into pro evol.’s soccer teams. This gets at the heart of the matter: Fifa is made by EA, which has tons of cash and resources, while Konami does not. I reflect it shows in their presntation of each game. I reflect the only reason that somebody would want to own pro evol. over fifa is only if somebody wanted more strategic and gameplay options. Really, that’s it. Bottomline is fifa is a blast w/ real players, and pro evol. is not a blast and mostly doesn’t have real players.

PES has excellent graphics, but the controls and unrealistic physics detract from the by and large experience.
First, the controls for the players are hard, especially moving and shooting. When you shoot (by critical square), a meter fills. The Fill-factor of the meter determines how high the ball goes, and the management that your player stands determines the horizontal management. But, the shot meter fills up far too quickly. Just one light tap fills it half way. So, nearly every time I took a shot on the goal, the ball went over the cross bar. Needless to say, the shooting mechanics could have been greatly improved.
Also, the left analog stick feels very “loose.” I have to push the stick all the way to go my player.
Another feature that needs improvement is the physics. When running at a moderate to quick pace, your player can barely turn to the right or left, which makes it very hard to juke around defenders. Also, when running, your player puts the ball about 10 FEET in front of him. That is ridiculous; in real life a qualified soccer player can keep the ball 4-5 feet in front of him, even when he is running.
And, there are many other issues like these two.
I know that this game is very well loved, but for me open controls and a less frustrating experience are much more vital than graphics and sound.

Sorry to say that this game has failed to live up to my expectations.
My major gripe is the graphics in between the actual game and the non discript music. In my first hour of playing I kept hearing the same comments over and over again by the commentators.
On other football sports meeting I delight in the tactics of managing a team and dealing with transfers, injuries and finances, I miss that with this game.
The actual game play is fun though.

I am the kid who keeps posting “Wilkommen zum Fussball” I have a question. How do you unlock new balls in this game? The manuals say that you can but in the WE-shop i dont see any. (I have bought everything yet so I should try that first) Please if anyone out here knows please post it in a review! Still a splendid game. I would just like the WC ball for international matces abd the champions league for reinacted U.E.F.A. ties. Thanks!
