Product Description
From the early, unexpected invasion of the Orcish Horde to the quest of the Splendid Alliance to forever seal the Dark Portico that links their two worlds, you will experience the epic saga of the mighty battle to gain dominance over the kingdom of Azeroth.Amazon.com Review
Orcs and humans have waged fierce battles across the scarred earth of Azeroth for many moons, with never an end in sight. In a go sure to make peons whimper and paladins pray, Blizzard is extending the carnage with WarCraft II: Battle.Net Edition.
Given WarCraftII’s status and dedicated fan base, it’s no bolt from the blue that the release-player game is untouched. The brilliant Beyond the Dark Portico expansion set is included with the original Tides of Darkness, making four campaigns and 70 missions that remain fun despite their age. The Orc and Human armies obviously have nearly identical strengths and weaknesses, but as in the past, the art and sound cues make them feel worlds apart.
The real selling point is the vastly improved multiplayer experience. Aligning WarCraft II with Blizzard’s other titles, more than one hundred multiplayer maps now let you take the struggle for Azeroth to the free “battle.net” service. Setting up sports meeting is unadorned enough for an Orc to figure out, and you can play against (or with) up to eight human or computer opponents. No AI can match the challenge of a human player’s volatility, and thanks to the worldwide ladder, you can fight tooth and claw for rank against players across the globe. –Jack GardinerAmazon.com Product Description

WarCraft II Battle.net Edition is the continuation of the ruthless clash between the armies of the noble humans and the brutish orcs. From the early, unexpected invasion of the Orcish Horde to the Splendid Alliance’s quest to forever seal the Dark Portico that links their two worlds, you will experience the epic saga of the mighty battle to gain dominance over the kingdom of Azeroth. By the side of the way, you’ll need to carefully manage your limited resources to successfully construct and rule your medieval empire while engaging in real-time tactical warfare over land, sea, and air.

This game could do alot better than it really did. It takes way to long to build something or to train something. But it has a excellent storyline where its humans against orcs. I do delight in watching them battle it out and ending in a gory death. The land isnt detailed enough. What this game lacks is details.

I have been playing Warcraft II for many, many years, and absolutely like it. I finally chose to pick up the BattleNet addition of the game so I could play online against people from around the world. What a terrible mistake that was…
Unfortunately, BattleNet is not anything more than a haven for depraved, foul mouthed young people hell bend on making your online experience as miserable as possible. The unrelenting flood of obscenities, personal attacks, and graphic make pleased, makes the game completely inappropriate for younger players, and insufferable for grown-up ones. You don’t even have to be playing a game to be accosted, it starts immediately in the main page chat dialogue box, as soon as you connect to the service.
This really is a bring shame on, because this is such a splendid game, and a moderately small group of people have completely ruined it for everyone. There seem to be far fewer troublemakers on the sports meeting that charge a monthly fee, so hopefully Blizzard’s new venture into online gaming, coming soon, I hope, will be better.
Despite being a splendid game, I cannot recommend this version….

WarCraft 2 is a legendary game made by Blizzard, a huge gaming company as of now. The game when it came out had everything and was a start of a groundbreaking new kind of game play. Now with THIS edition though you can play on the internet, which was something many people wanted for some time. The races of 2 arn’t nearly as strategic as StarCraft, its following splendid achiever, due to the facts that the Orcs and Humans in the game play are nearly identical. The only real difference is the spells, and the way the units look.
There is 2 reasons that I reflect you should buy this over StarCraft… One is that it has two GREAT previews of the upcoming game WarCraft 3 and the game Diablo 2. The other reason is that not everyone can afford computers that are incredibly quick. So if you can not play StarCraft very quickly and it goes slow on b.net for you, then WarCraft2 is something you must buy because it will work much more effectively.

I don’t own this game, but have played it in school. I haven’t played the campaign missions, but have played multiplayer nearly everyday for 2 months. The graphics are dated, but that isn’t where the fun is. For me it is the quick paced-ness of the game that keeps me hooked. Unlike most RTSs I have played, each misson doesn’t have to take an hour and a half to complete. If you know how to build, it can take you 5 minutes to defeat a game aginst a release computer opponent. You can also build crazily, and go like that, or you can develop a approach and either way, you stand a chance of winning.
My suggestion for those just starting: 1 build your hall and 4 or five farms while cranking out peons/pesants like crazy. Then build 3 barracks and make another town near another gold mine. Don’t stop building peons unless you are running out of cash.
