Well, well, well. Another action packed platformer made by sega, the king of the genesis video game stystem. Another game where you run like crazy killing enemies…ahhhhh those where the excellent ancient days where my brother and I played kid chameleon and this game together trying to see who gets farther owing to the game. The game starts out playing cool music and showing vectorman up close, and it starts showing the tale and that eerie [person] made out of floating spheres running around. I don’t really get the tale about this game but all I know is that so called “vectorman”(the game should have been called sphere man) runs around in the dark shooting at giant insects, bugs and slugs trying to collect protons and getting to the end of the screen to finally manage to beat the level. The game has dull level layouts and everything is so hard to figure out that I have to squint and shoot protons to try to light up the area for a split second and try to figure out the sarroundings so that i could make my next go. The music during the game is not that terrible but obviously beyong average. I haven’t really beaten the game yet and I’m not plotting to because it’s not worth the suffering and horrible eye strain. I gave the game 2 stars because I like the creative characters and the action in the game, though it was eerie that the enemies just disappeared after the got killed. By and large this game is maybe worth renting but obviosly not worth buying. Thanks godness I got this game in the sega smash pack 2 which had lots of other splendid sports meeting that don’t disappoint you like “Comix Zone” and “Kid Chameleon”. Use your cash on the original instead. So long.

I bought this game as a pool piece therefor have no removed it from the cellophane packaging ALTHOUGH I have played the game before hand. The gameplay is a bit sluggist but still fun to play but no match for the origional. It’s definately worth a few hours of your time to check it out if not only to just mess around on a decent side-scroller. By and large I give it an average rating but within the same thought it is also a must try.

It’s rather disheartening to see the quality of Sega sports meeting going down the gutter these days (The only excellent game to come out in awhile was Condemned 2: Bloodshot). The Golden Scope was hailed as garbage, Iron Man was also reviled by all critics, Sonic has been in a downward slope for years, and the new Hulk game didn’t receive splendid reviews. But when you revisit classics like these on the Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast, you’re reminded of the excellent times, plus quite a few excellent sports meeting on the PS2 and Xbox. Vectorman is one of those sports meeting that for some reason or another, Sega never revitalized it neither in console nor handheld form like many of its fellow Sega brethren. I have not played the first Vectorman, but this sequel is highly polished and rather solid for a side-scrolling shooter with platforming elements.
WHAT THE GAME IS: When Vectorman’s ship gets shot down he crashes on a planet and must escape and defeat copious enemies. So in excellent ancient side-scrolling form you shoot lots of enemies and jump onto platforms.
GRAPHICS: It has the 2D/3D look. The environments are designed quite nicely and the game is rather pretty. I like the enemy exploding effects.
MUSIC: It has a silent, haunting feel to it. It is nice music that goes by the side of with the game.
SOUND: Shooting, enemies dying, your character dying sometimes, and his one-liners.
GAMEPLAY: The controls function quite well and feel very open and reliable. The game can be hard though and you can die. Also, sometimes certain platforms are tough to reach and there are times when you miss them and fall to the ground. But these flaws are easily overcome by the addicting gameplay.
OVERALL: If you own a Genesis you should pick up this game, and demand that Sega does a re-release of this game. It’s a highly polished and exceptional side-scrolling shooter that’s fun for anyone. Now, Sega, by the side of with re-releasing this title you should also reflect about digging into your Saturn and Dreamcast catalogue of titles and reviving them if you hope to survive as a publisher.
THE GOOD: Splendid gameplay, excellent music, excellent graphics.
THE BAD: Platforming can be tough.

I bought this game because I loved the first one, it wasn’t as excellent but it still is incredible to run around as bunch of green balls kicking butt.

Vectorman 2 is one heck of a fun game. If you have never had the opportunity to play this game, then you are missing out! Vectorman 2 is much like Mega Man in that there is a lot of shooting and platforming. It is not as hard but is just as much fun. The controls are intuitive and is basically like the ancient arcade side scrolling shooters. If you haven’t been able to play Mega Man because you don’t have the Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64 or GameCube then you owe yourself a play of this gem of a game for the Sega Genesis.
