By and large you may find torchlight a fun game, if repetitive. But, everything this game could have been is completely soiled by the fact that it has no multiplayer. No online, no lan, N O T H I N G. How in the world did they make a diablo clone and forget to place in multiplayer? I am at a loss for words, I would know if it was the early 90s and this was an apple computer game or something, but this was made in 2 0 0 9! No multiplayer or dead multiplayer takes the lifespan of a dungeon crawler down from forever to none.
Oh yeah, 3 characters, but that doesn’t matter because the gameplay is very shallow anyways.
The only excellent thing I have to say about this game is that it supports addons, like extra make pleased or game changes really well. But, they f’d that up real excellent too, if you enable the console and do anything, you get branded a cheater and lose access to your shared stash. That’s smart, because it’s super vital to prevent cheating in a release player only game.

This is basically one of THE greatest RPGs similar to Diablo. Splendid everything. I was absolutely hooked to this game for about 13 hours straight. Conundrum is…your character can get stuck on invisible things. This shouldn’t be a conundrum if the game didn’t save with every step you take practically and not allow you the option to save when you in fact want to and to load when you want to or to have multiple save files….So you may be saying “well you can just teleport out or do an unstuck button”…incorrect. When you are stuck and you attempt to use the town portico scroll or spell it will say you are unable to do it for no matter what reason. So what do you do? Well you can go on the forum for the game and go owing to a process of teleporting your character up a level using the console which is hard to unlock which doesn’t always work because of the many different operating systems people are using by the side of with the people who bought it off of steam such as myself who are screwed. You are also somehow able to upload your save file(idk how to do this) onto rapidshare, megaupload, mediafire, etc. for other players to get you unstuck, then they will upload your file unstuck. This is TOO complicated and the game just needs to be patched yet it hasn’t been. The developers seem to have abandoned the game and instead just the community is trying to help others. This turned me off so much I don’t even feel like playing a new character because of how much time was wasted on that one character. If you are going to buy this game be sure to never walk into anything that seems too small for your character to go owing to or else you could be stuck for excellent.
UPDATE: I have gone owing to the steps to enabling the console commands and ascended a level which teleported me to town(fine by me as long as I’m not stuck). I have bumped up my review to 4 stars. Keep in mind before purchasing the game that you can get stuck and it can be VERY frustrating. Besides getting stuck this is easily my favorite game that I’ve played in a long time other than the magnificent The Witcher. Pick this game up if you can’t wait for Diablo 3

Add me to the list of people with splendid things to say about this game. All the positives are right (looks splendid, mostly bug free, with all the fun parts of Diablo or Fate). The only down side not mentioned yet is the ability to patch. When you visit the game website (Amazon will not let me post the link so Google it) you will see that the contemporary version is 1.15 but the boxed version is 1.13 and (as of today 2/21/2010) there is no way to patch up to the contemporary version if you installed from the DVD. The differences include bug fixes and new art. So consider getting the digital download instead of the box from Amazon.
