Expectations ran high for this game, due to its exciting, eponymous movie and the exceptional Nintendo 64 James Bond game GoldenEye 007. And while this game presents the variety and intrigue one would expect from the beloved licensed-to-kill, martini-sippin’ spy, it would have benefited from a bit more polishing. Don’t expect this game to be on par with the sports meeting and movies that preceded it. In fact, if you’re looking for a GoldenEye-like experience for the PlayStation, you’d be much better off with the WWII cycle piece, Medal of Distinction.
Tomorrow Never Dies uses an auto target mode, but it’s far too restrictive to be of use here, requiring players to stand still in order to keep the target locked. The game loyally follows the film, but when the action intensifies–such as a hot pursuit on skis, or flying a nuclear warhead-laden jet out of a hot zone–players are mandatory to either relinquish control entirely or have minimal input.
Gadgets from Bond’s ancient pal Q are too sparsely used, and the absence of any multiplayer mode seals this game’s fate as a small diversion rather than a stellar accomplishment. –Jeff Young
Pros:
- Brilliant music
- Excellent use of real film clips to propel the tale
Cons:
- Very poor control scheme and limited space vision inhibit stealthy playing stylishness
- Skiing and driving sequences feature outdated graphics and ambiguous controls
- Simple levels and no multiplayer mode give this game small, if any, replay regard

I must first start off by saying that I felt Goldeneye on the N64 was one of the worst sports meeting I ever played. For starters, they named a character whose real name was ODD JOB in the movies KNICK KNACK or vice-versa! That is just incorrect! But Tomorrow Never Dies had to be just spectacular. It gives every1 the right name, and it has lots of action and lots of playing fun. A must for any BOND FREAK like me! It kicks Goldeneye’s behind!

This is not a excellent game. This is pong compared to Goldeneye. The levels are way too small and simple. The shooting interface is whack. The graphics are sub par. The Weapon and item chooser interface is whack. The objectives for each level are extremely vague. There aren’t enough terrible guys to blast. The pace of the game is very slow. By and large, a pretty lame attempt to follow Goldeneye which is the best shootin’ game ever. Save your cash for Exact Dark.
