As the Don of a family, there are a ton of strategic choices to make in The Godfather 2. Just one example are Monopolies. Monopolies are groupings of rackets that “run” the same criminal activity. Controlling, and defending a monopoly comes with both a monetary bonus and game perk benefits making them key to owning the map, gaining wealth and amassing potential. Monopolies can be local to one city or span across the cities. Larger monopolies made up of many targets, across multiple cities are obviously more hard but offer greater rewards. Other in-game rackets include: Fronts – extortable legitimate businesses of the game that grant payouts as well as cash laundering opportunities; and Small, Medium and Large Rackets – venues containing an illegal criminal activity and usually disguised as legitimate businesses. Commanding Your Crew
There are six ranks within each family, starting with the Don. As the Don you will have a right hand man, your Consigliere Tom Hagen, who will teach you the ropes and advise you on how to take down the other families. The rest of your family is comprised of an Underboss, Capos, Soldiers and Associates. These are the men who guard your interests and follow your instructions without question. Members of your family within these ranks, known as Made Men, possess exclusive skills and specialties that can be taken into battle. Direct them wisely and upgrade them to develop their specialties and increase the potential of your organization. But beware. Each rival family has it’s own family tree as well. Learning how to hunt down and permanently eliminate their Made Men will be critical to your success.
Play The Godfather II online multiplayer modes and become the right Don of Dons. Take your cash, weapons, and crew from your singleplayer experience online and wage mob warfare against players around the world. Play as one of your family’s Made Men and place your best strategies to the test as you battle for riches and honors that transfer back and forth between your singleplayer campaign. Some available modes include: Fire Starter Game Mode – Arsonist crew members attempt to ruin as much as possible in a race to reach the scoring limit. Safe Cracker Mode – Safe cracker crew members attempt to find safes throughout the map. Cracking them earns your team points and cash. Demolition Assault Mode – Use your demolitions specialty to ruin the enemy’s three assault points. Team Deathmatch – The bloodiest mode and so not for the squeamish. Team with most kills wins.

I’ve played this game for about 6 hours and the only word I can come up with is sloppy. In those 6 hours I’ve spent the better part of my time trying to: fix my camera view, reorient my map, and click owing to screen after screen after screen in the proverbial “Don’s view”. EA should of remembered why the first game succeeded and nonstop the formula: splendid controls, awesome characters, lots of detail and plentiful sidequests. Now every character looks the same, the controls are choppy (you have to tommygun someone for 15 seconds before they drop) and the “Don’s view” is more of a hindrance then a novelty. (if someone can clarify why its supposed to be fun for me to open up this screen over and over to send my guys to some other city to defend some other place i’ll likely never go back to, I’d appreciate it) I also don’t know alot of the logic in this game…. people on the street hire me to bomb a building/trash a place and when I check my map– it’s my own damn affair. Am I the only one missing something here?

I bought the original Godfather game for PS2 used for about $[...] and was disapointed with the repetative game play. You walk into a store, warehouse, or family compound and extort or kill whoever is inside or hanging around the place. VERY BORING after you realize they are all the same. About the only cool thing was the weapons upgrades. The original Godfather game had a splendid tale to go off of, and I liked the 1940s setting, so I got about 12 hours of gameplay before I just got sick of doing the same thing over and over. But I only paid [...] bucks so no huge.
I was not alone in my take on the first game, so I had splendid hopes for the sequel which I assumed would increase on a excellent game by adding more variety to the take overs of affair fronts and such. When I played the game last night I nearly place my foot owing to the screen! EA did small more than add the same gameplay found in Vice City Tales of taking over a affair and then defending it. Now the only cool thing is recruiting members of the family and at [...] it is not THAT cool.
I have only played for 4 hours, but I must say that I have not been this dissapointed by a game for a very long time. Among other things, the size of New York City in this game is about the 10 blocks by [...] blocks. The voice acting is very terrible, with the Frank Pantangeli character the worst of all. I may be biased here since the voice of Frank from the movie was so distinct and full of flavor and the voice in the game is so plain and unemotional.
The controls are very much the same and driving a car is certainly not anything close to being in the same league as GTA and the same goes for walking. When your character walks up or down stairs, there is no suggestion he is doing so. The character walks just as if he was on the sidewalk.
This review should have been better, but I am soooo frustrated I just had to get it out. The game is terrible. If you have the first one, play that for a while and at least wait for the price to come down on this title. I wouldn’t even recommend it as a excellent buy for $[...].

I pre-ordered this game in splendid anticipation of it coming out. I should have waited and played it first. The first Godfather game was so excellent that I thought there was no way the second one would be any different. Man, was I incorrect. This is the most horrible game I ever bought. Francis Ford Coppola is crying in his grave right now. The looks, the action , everything sucks. Please people, don’t dissipate your cash like I did. The graphics are absolutely terrible.

I rented Godfather 2 hoping for a game as excellent as or better than the first. The first had decent graphics, somewhat dated, but the gameplay was excellent and engaging. The Godfather 2 is dull, everything is the same, the graphics are terrible for a PS3 game and after playing for 3 hours, you havent gotten anywhere. Your player is questioned to do the same things over and over, without much reward. The controls are terrible and the police and shape systems are buggy and do not live up to the first game. Driving in the game is like driving a square. When you crash, the car hurts in the same place everytime and gets stuck very easily. The driving physics need work and the weapons are terribly unrealistic and it takes many shots to down an enemy with a basic pistol. By and large this game is frustating, really simple, dull, terrible graphics and doesnt live up to its name
