beware of biased reviews panning this fine game.they do so probably because its British. It’s far better than Gta san andreas.

Graphics are awesome, and London is very well done (if you’ve ever been there). The conundrum with this game is in the difficulty setting…the “combat” parts are VERY simple, IF you can guide to get there…once again, no maps..vehicles handle very poorly, with lots of obstacles. This game could have been splendid with the addition of difficulty setting, or a some adjustments in the driving aspect…fun game, but not the next Grand Theft Auto.

I might feel compelled to let more slide had this not been a sequel, and had it not been on a console that’s been around for years. I suppose what I’m saying is that there would be some moderately valid excuses for the problems that plague this game. But it is a sequel, and the PS2 has been around a long time, and there’s no justification that can clarify the horrid end result. The Getaway brought enough originality to the immersive crime/action genre that you could overlook how unpolished, awkward and spotty it was. Two years later, Black Monday can’t claim to be original, rather a regurgitation of everything the first was, but it too is unpolished, awkward and spotty. Yes, they addressed some superficial problems with the first. Traffic moves quicker for example. But for the most part, the most crippling and frustrating problems of the first are still here, and they’re joined by some new ones.
Negatives? The controls and camera angles are terrible. I can only call the differences in play stylishness of the three different main characters “clumsy”. Mitchell has the incredible ability to instantly arrest someone, no matter what they’re doing, with a release button click. Apparently they’re *magic* handcuffs. So when you get tired of shooting back, just run up and handcuff them because that’s far more effective. Eddie is fun for a small while, then it’s reduced to just mashing the same buttons to beat people up. Sam is all secrecy, which wouldn’t be so terrible if the enemies ever bothered to go. I guess this is compensated for by giving them telescopic vision in the one management they perpetually face. Her section is painfully dull. Either you sneak past, or they see you. There are no secrecy attacks. If they see you, either you’re dead, or you hide behind something, they ‘reset’ and you try try again.
But I have to come back to the first two points again. The controls and the camera angles are terrible. Never before have I been so quickly turned off in the first few minutes of the game. You start by raiding one apartment. Then with nebulous management, you’re sent chasing off after criminals who are trying to escape. You end up bungling around in a pitch black apartment, trying to work around obstacles you can’t see (unless they just happen to fall in the path of your narrow flashlight beam — which, by the way, you have nearly no control over because the camera angles suck)… In fact, I don’t feel the need to add any more here. This game is borderline unplayable.
Positives? London is spot on.
I nearly felt guilty writing these comments until I remembered what I had paid for this game. Please do yourself a favor and don’t make the same mistake. I can’t even recommend renting it. If you have a friend who owns it, they may well just give it to you to be rid of it, but then I’d marvel if they’re a really a friend at all.
I’m giving it 2 stars, only because the city is so well recreated. Judging that aspect alone would warrant 5 stars. But, the controls deserve zero — wait, it’s my review, unenthusiastic five stars (black monday holes?), the cameras unenthusiastic five, the interface one, the writing/storyline a four or even five, voice acting a four, audio a two, visuals a two, replayability absolutely zero, innovation one — I could go on, but the point is that by and large, it’s subpar. This isn’t worth owning at half the price.

This was the continuation in the epic Getaway series. First of all not the best sequel, its right the GTA series truley outdone themseleves compared to Team Soho. Now on to the reviews, graphics are decent not much of an improvement from the first game. Tale line is alittle better maybe more appealing to some viewers. And i will agree if you want something decent to play not alot of difficulty buy this game, but dont spend over $30. I got this game for 25 and it was decent at most. The worst thing about this game is the camera angle and the enemies they truly dont give much of a hard fight. One reviewer said u could handcuff 30 enemies while everyone around you is shooting…..sadly its right. And for god sake’s what is the point of being in London if they dont utilize the place. In san andreas and Vice City they utilized the urban history from hispanic gangs to haitain thugs…..In London it completely a bore. Dont expect much from this game, but if u want a excellent small 2-4 week challenge for the weekends invest in it.

I loved this game but either found that the missions that are there aren’t satisfying enough or that the game itself wasn’t long enough. I’m not entirely sure which. I guess that I’m glad that the ending seemed to leave it open for a sequel because I really liked the first game of this series. I hope that ultimately this will just be a stepping stone to a game more like the first.
