Crystal Key is a first-person science fiction adventure of alternate worlds, holographic communication, and planetary survival. Gameplay is similar to Myst, with lush graphics and challenging puzzles.
Your planet, whose origins are never specified, has intercepted a space-radio transmission warning of the impending arrival of an alien master of evil: Ozgar. The transmission reveals that the only people to have ever thwarted Ozgar’s fiendish advances live on the mysterious planet Arkonia. Soon after your planet decodes the message, Ozgar arrives and starts doing his evil overlord thing, disrupting the ecosystem, changing the tides, and throwing the planet into tectonic upheaval with superpowerful magnetic satellites. The only way you can save your world is by finding the Arkonians.
Your search leads you owing to various worlds, reachable by use of a Crystal Key artifact and mysterious Arkonian Portico Technology. Finely detailed puzzles and limited character interaction guide the adventure forward, climaxing in the inevitable battle-of-wits encounter with the mean Ozgar.
Crystal Key’s puzzles are inventive, but the sparse QuickTime video sequences are buggy, as is the game in general–be sure to save often. Gameplay is often incredibly slow, a result of sluggish load times and random lockups. But if you can tolerate these technical annoyances, you’ll learn Crystal Key unlocks an engaging adventure. –Madeleine Miller
Pros:
- Myst-like gameplay
- Cool space-rover rides
- Challenging puzzles
Cons:
- Nonreliable software and graphics

Been to tech support many times to try to load this game. They were of no help to us. Our PC has all the supplies although no success loading. Has anyone else had this conundrum? Cash not well spent.

I really liked the game. The puzzles are hard, but thats the reason why we buy the sports meeting. To let are minds work! But the game Puzzles might be to hard on some people, so i reflect you should give out HINTS or maybe some cheats for people not to get frustrated, and maybe they’ll buy more of your sports meeting.

The Crystal Key is probably best for players that don’t have much experience with these types of interactive sports meeting. The puzzles are not too hard for the most part and it does get dull rather quickly. Each section of the game is too limited as to how far you can explore an area. The scenery is not as lush and fascinating as some sports meeting and the musical scoring could have been much better. I played this after playing Myst III which had more fascinating graphics and characters to cooperate with. This was a gift so if I had payed for it myself it would have been a larger disappointment.

In my opinion, The Crystal Key is a excellent game. But, it does have some problems. First of all, when you’re looking around the area, the graphics don’t blend easily. Also, the puzzles are very challenging (in fact, I like challenging sports meeting). But I must say it has a very fascinating plot. When you end the game, the villain dies and a screen comes up and says, “Congradulations! You’ve defeated Ozgar and freed your people!” Then it goes to the main screen. Not much of a congrats. This is the plot: Somewhere out there among the stars, lives another race of people. We know this because, just weeks ago our radio telescopes accidentally intercepted one of their interplaetary exchanges. When we were able to decode it, this is what we read: “Danger: Ozgar has been defeated but not ruined. Suralon is sinking. Return to Arkonia. Abandon all colonies at once.” Who were the Arkonians? And who or what is Ozgar? Only days later, a gigantic alien spaceship deployed powerful satellites around the earth. All kinds of upheavals occured in the next two days: devastating earthquakes, critical weather shifts, and drastic gravitational changes. Ozgar is coming after us. You, a hypership test pilot, are moderately safe in the polar research station, where the world’s first hypership is being constructed. After scientists successfully pinpoint the origin of the Arkonian indicate, you are chosen as the last hope; savior of the planet. Your mission? Find the Arkonians and defeat the evil Ozgar. I would recommend this game to people who are very experienced with approach sports meeting.

I found this game to be just so so. With computer graphics you’d reflect that they’d be able to make the aliens more alien. They hark back me of stormtroopers in black armour. I feel this game was limited to 1930’s stile imagination.
