The Huge Leagues just got larger. The Bigs 2 allows fans to experience heroic gameplay, legendary game modes and incredible player models like they’ve never seen before. Elevating The Bigs 2 to new heights are larger potential-ups, incredible visual effects, and an all new career mode. Featuring exciting player animations and pick-up-and-play controls, The Bigs 2 delivers an action-packed, heroic MLB video game experience.
The Wheelhouse The Bigs 2 features a special Legendary Rating system for players as they develop. On defense a high rating means a player will be able to get to balls other players can’t, which will make them very valuable against high-powered offensive team. In addition, players with high status are capable of spectacular plays, like jumping into the stands to rob a batter of a home-run, pulling down come-backers off the bat of opponents, etc. When these plays are made players will gain access to play specific mini-sports meeting as a reward, that are designed to be fun and further hone their skills in these specific areas. By the side of with the two mentioned above, players can also expect to see mini-sports meeting available to legendary rated players such as handling line drives up the middle, diving plays in both the infield and outfield and foul balls pulled from the hands of fans. Legendary status is not limited to defensive fielding positions though. Pitchers can possess a legendary skill rating that allows them the likelihood of domination on the mound. Batter’s legendary status can also be utilized both by the potential and skill they bring as they step up to the plate, as well as in some cases an ability to increase the potency of their teammates skill in the batters box. An example of this is an enlarged wheelhouse for the batter that follows a player with a high legendary status or even the entire lineup. In these cases the regard and approach of having legendary players available for insertion into the roster is obvious. The Huge SlamSimilar to functionality in the first game in the series that allowed players who had accumulated enough turbo points a strikeout or home run when they wanted/needed it, The Bigs 2 brings the ‘Huge Slam’ to the field. In this case offensive players who have enough turbo points can opt to take on a series of pitches in an attempt at a simplified grand slam. The rub is that there are only four pitches involved one for each batter in the series. All it takes to get your man on base is to make friend. Once the bases are full a grand slam is automatic. It’s an arcade game that is far from a simulation, you might as well place dialogue baloons all over the field…boom, pow, ka-boom.
It’s fun for about a day, then I became quickly bored with it. A lot of closeups when at those moments you need to see the field for an effective simulation.
The pitching/hitting zone (hot zone)decreases or increases with each at bat, that’s brilliant, other than that not much to see here.
I’d buy it for $5.99-$9.99 if it was on sale, maybe, it’s not worth $59.99.

I despise this game with a passion. I thought it would be like MLB Slugfest, which was fun, quirky and had intuitive controls. In this game it seems like fielding and base running would be simpler to master in real life than it would in the game. I’ve had innings were it was impossible to get any outs because everything is either a base hit or a home run and your fielders can never get to anything in time. Horrible game. I would advise anyone who was looking for a game similar to Midway’s MLB Slugfest to STAY AWAY from this one.

Okay, I’m an avid player of MLB: The Show series and I despise the yearly 2K Sports release of Major League Baseball sports meeting, but this game is sick. Slugfest is back, and in a huge way. The controls and stylishness of gameplay take some getting used to. But, depending on your level of skill, you can get the basic thought over the course of a few quick sports meeting. The visuals are very arcade like and very pleasing to the eye. Between the awesome home run presentations to the over the top circus stylishness catches, The Bigs 2 delivers eye sweetie in a BIG way. For the price you can get it on here at a shave over $15.00. You really can’t pass up this title, especially if you’re an avid baseball fan, and play the sports meeting.

It’s not a baseball sim, but for what it is The Bigs 2 hits the mark…for me. I get VERY bored with sport sims and every once in a awhile having a fun arcade stylishness baseball game brings back the fond memories I had when I played NFL Blitz on the N64. This is a very quick paced game, lots of huge home runs and unbelievable plays. If it wasn’t on special for the $29 I more than likely wouldn’t have bought it, but this is a fun game especially when you have friends come over. this is a solid 4 stars in my opinion.

I lost my interest in baseball after the strikes. I used to play the sports meeting all the time and had fun with them, but once I got out of baseball, I got out of the sports meeting. I started downloading demos recently of baseball sports meeting trying to respark that fun I had many years ago, but found that I just didn’t have the like of them anymore…..until I tried this. The game was unadorned enough for a novice to pick up and play, with enough nuances to allow a gamer to feel like they were mastering something. I went out on a limb and bought it and immediately fell in like. The game is not exact by any stretch; and there were plenty of times I wanted to hurl my controller out the dialogue box. All that being said though, this game gave me a solid experience and I still pop it in and play a game or two even though I have beaten the Become a Legend Mode.
Props:
Solid graphics, an engaging commentary (at least as engaging as you can get for baseball), multiple game modes that all support same console multiplay, awesome special plays, multiple stadiums with their own unique celebrations and chants, a decent character creation scheme (with the BEST facial hair customization I have seen YET) including your character’s attitude (how he approaches the plate, celebrates, etc.), and in person, some pretty solid replay.
Gripes:
Character creation still lacks in a lot of areas including a pretty low affect selection (a affect wheel would have done wonders).
Some goals are infuriating forcing you to allow the other team to get ahead of you before you can even pull them off (Example: “Go a Legendary Catch with your character”. Unadorned enough except for the fact that you can only go a Legendary Catch with a Legendary Glove. The only way you get a Legendary Glove for your character is to allow the other team to get ahead thereby kicking in your special trait of “+3 to attributes when behind”…….oh yeah and making sure that the next home run is hit toward YOUR guy and not the other outfielders/infielders. Oh, and also hoping that the NUMEROUS hits off your pitcher doesn’t cause him to lose a pitch or three.).
Near as I can tell you can NEVER get your stats to “Legendary” unless you fall behind unless that happens after the Cooperstown completion but I would reflect you could at least get one or two stats “Legendary” for beating the game and retiring.
You can’t seem to increase your made character outside of Become a Legend mode; meaning that your “career” player improves but can’t be used in a roster outside of Legend mode and your regular made character is stuck with no matter what points you assign at creation (if I am incorrect about this someone PLEASE let me know how cause I would like it).
Only 3 stolen players allowed in your Become a Legend mode team (WTF?). You can hold nine, but can only have three in play. Come on now. Don’t be cheap. We earned them, we should be able to use them.
Last, but not least, a few more Homerun Pinball arenas would have been nice. Four seems a small light.
All in all, a fun game with some real promise. If they continue improving the series then the next one could be close to exact. Until that time, this is definately worth a shot.
