Join your favorite qualified players for the ultimate Dreamcast tennis experience. Endorsed by sisters Venus and Serena Williams, the game also features athletes like Jelena Dokic, Lindsay Davenport, Mary Pierce, and plenty of representatives of the men?s draw. TENNIS 2K2 is the sequel to the well loved VIRTUA TENNIS, and you can bet that there are plenty of improvements to the well loved game. New physics, updated graphics, and more pro players make this one even better than the original.Amazon.com Review
Sega’s Tennis 2K2 adds nearly every element fans of Virtua Tennis longed for upon its release. The game features eight female players, including the Williams sisters and Monica Seles, by the side of with eight male players, including Patrick Rafter and Yevgeny Kafelnikov. As if that’s not enough, you can make your own male and female players–selecting from a range of faces, hairstyles, heights, and weights–and train them to conquer the new World Tour mode.
The gameplay is slightly deeper than in the previous installment thanks to separate topspin and backspin buttons and a lob button to foil opponents who rush the net. You’ll need all the tricks you can muster to beat the revamped AI opponents, who place up a fight even on the simplest difficulty setting. The incredible graphics engine from the original game has been tweaked to look even better, with smoother animations and more detailed players. Squint and you’ll nearly be fooled into thinking you’re watching a TV broadcast. The fun minigames from the original are back and better than ever, but it’s the depth of the World Tour mode that keeps us coming back for more, and that puts our copy of Virtua Tennis in stable retirement. –T. This game has alot going for it on the surface. Unfortunately, it doesn’t place it together and ends up being a rather flat package.
PLUS: Decent cast of players. Men’s players are kind of blah (where is Agassi, Safin, Roddick, Hewitt???), but the ladies are well represented with the Williams sisters, Monica, and Lindsay. The graphics are incredible, and extra pains were takent to replicate the stylishness of the players. Watching Lindsay serve in this game is like watching tape of her playing.
MINUS: The gameplay is shoddy and is NOT tennis. It is nearly impossible to hit a winner on any setting (other than simple, which is WAY TOO EASY!!!). When a stout, useless pig like Alexandra Stevenson can run down shot after shot off Lindsay or Venus’ racquet, something is certainly incorrect. Half the shots the computer players use are invented shots and physically impossible in the actual sport of tennis. Because of this, the game becomes an implementation in frustration.
A bring shame on…I was hoping Sega can go out with a bang. Instead, barely a whimper.

Hi averyone. I’m Pablo, a tennis fan from Spain and I’m so pleased for having (next mounth, what a jealousy because of you, American people, who can joy this game now!) this product. Maybe it won’t be exact, what’s exact?, and althought there’s not players like Sampras, Agassi, Steffi (why not? she could be a hidden player) or Martina (bouth), it is right that any tennis game before has become a game that approached so to reality like this one, above all in a sport like this, in which videogames have not done very much until last year with Virtua Tennis. I am sure it won’t dissappoint us ¡Disfrutémoslo!

Just by looking at videos of this game makes it look splendid. It has a variety in players from serve and volleyers Tim Henman and Patrick Rafter to Baseliners in Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Carlos Moya. The only thing that I find puzzling about the game is that it has Alexandra Stevenson in it. Besides her one excellent year at Wimbledon, she hasn’t done anything except search for media attention.

After purchasing dreamcast, the first game i got was virtua tennis. I thought it was the best game ever! I couldn’t wait to play the sequel.
When i heard that tennis 2k2 was coming out i bought it. Its even better than the first one. It includes players such as Patrick Rafter, Greg Norman, and others. Tim Henman, Tommy Haas, Carlos Moya, and others return. In Tennis 2k2 you can play with woman such as Venus and Serena Williams, Monica Seles, Lindsay Davenport, and a lot others.
The graphics are much better. They are more realistic than the cartoonish virtua tennis graphics. The gampeplay is much better also. Instead of having two buttons for the lob you have one for topspin, slice, and lob. The swings are much more realistic. All the serves are the same as real life.
This is a winner
