With the release of Forged Alliance the new standalone expansion for supreme commander Gas Powered Sports meeting has once again raised the bar for the RTS Genre. With over 100 new units and an entire new race, rebalanced, quicker, game play and copious graphical and performance tweaks, Forged Alliance is quite simply the greatest RTS ever.
The Multiplayer play is where this game really shines with a scope of battle not seen in any RTS yet. Massive armies of tanks and mechs frequently collide with naval bombardment raining down as fighters and gunships turn and dodge above in efforts to gain air superiority. Experimental 20 tale killing robots and strategic nuclear warheads can be built and will turn the tide of the battle in seconds. Do you self a favor and experience what RTS’s have always meant to be.

If you loved the Supreme Commander original game and tale, particular with the release player make pleased, I have terrible news for you, u will likely despise this steaming pile of dung.
The multiplayer is excellent, but as with the original, you need the Deep Blue horsepower to run sports meeting of more than 4 players. The release player is also not only horrible and disinteresting, you aren’t ever given a reason to care, so who gives a crap if they all get wiped out, no reasons are given for why you should even despise the new baddies. The resolution WORST part of the release player experience is you play the SAME mission on a different planet OVER AND OVER again. You are dropped in with no base and support on a planet typically against more than one other commander who has a full base up and running, excellent luck! YUCK
This game also follows the WORST game mechanic ever, UNSKIPPABLE CUTSCENES, hope you don’t wanna play that mission over because EVERY dern mission starts the same, with 3 minutes of unskippable cut scene crap, followed by some deragotory note from your “side”. I found myself wanting to play the seraphim more and more, and caring far less and less about the “human” side. NOt only that, but some of the missions were impossible to beat except on simple (by a skilled Approach gamer) due to the relentless rush nature of the stupid AI. The implausibility of some scenes is stupifying, the operation area is expanded to reveal an enemy force over 500 units per side, and you roped in. Ummm… If you had 500 units on wait, why didn’t you just attack me earlier, stupid!!!
This was a weak release player experience, save your cash for something better.

I’ve loved a lot of RTS sports meeting over the years (Age of Empires, Starcraft, Warcraft III, Ground Control, etc. etc.) With all the alcolades on the box and the impressive graphics shown, I figured this would at least burn up some hour of boredom. This game turned out to be a major disappointment quickly. Once I started playing, I quickly realized it is formatted exactly like Total Annihilation (which is it’s predecessor, by what 8-10 years), you generate energy and ore (renamed as “mass” in this game, can’t get much more generic than that) in the game to build units and structures. I loved Total Annihilation, so I’ve got not anything against the format except that it doesn’t offer anything unique. The game really fails in it’s gameplay, you can get the graphic shown on the box but you’ll have to zoom all the way in and you can’t play that way because there is no way to control your units or manage your “city” development. This is right for nearly RTS sports meeting but generally there is a zoom that is a pleased medium where you can see what you’re doing but still delight in the graphics, with this game the zoom required to really play everything turns into small squares with icons and symbols of what they represent. The music is dreadful, especially when compared to Total Annihilation which has a soundtrack that rocks. I guess it just goes to show that rarely does a clone match up to the original, unfortunately I don’t reflect that Total Annihilation is compatible with Windows Outlook. It just serves to me as a reminder to do the research about a game before going out and buying.

Splendid Graphics when zoomed in. Therefore the 1 star. Unfortunatly it is impossible to play at this zoomed in level where the graphics are pretty. To be playable you have to be in ‘view from space mode’ So basically your just watching Icons battle it out. Whheeeee! On top of that this is just a Land Factory Spam Factory game. Whoever can build the most T1 land units 1st wins.

Forget this. There is no way you can have any fun with this game. Your AI opponents will drop an A bomb on you before you can devise any defense.
