Super Mario Brothers Deluxe
Editorial Review
One of the best things about the Game Boy Affect is that it’s basically an original Nintendo Entertainment System that can fit in your pocket. What this means for gamers is that many of the splendid sports meeting for the classic system are being ported to the Game Boy Affect, giving us a chance to re-play (or in some cases learn) the best game titles from the ’80s.
Nintendo’s own Super Mario Bros. Deluxe is among the first of these conversions, and it certainly ruins one of the best. In fact, calling this game a conversion really doesn’t do it justice. This version in fact contains more levels than the original game, including the entire Japanese version and a slew of extras (such as a two-player mode).
The controls in this game are simple to grasp–even for novice gamers. All Mario can do is jump (and shoot fireballs with the right potential- ups), but it is incredible to see how much gameplay can be squeezed from these unadorned actions when the controls work in direct harmony with a player’s thoughts. The only element of this game that could have been better is that the Game Boy Affect’s screen isn’t quite large enough to show the entire layout of the original game screen, so players may occasionally need to press up and down on the control pad to see some offscreen action. While this can be distracting, it ultimately has minimal impact on gameplay. If you are looking for the prototypical side-scrolling platform game, you can’t do much better than Super Mario Bros. Deluxe. –T. Byrl Baker
Pros:
- Classic side-scrolling action gameplay
- Lots of extras
Cons:
- Screen isn’t quite huge enough to show the entire layout of the game

I know the chart sez the lowest raiting for a game is 1 star well i give this game unenthusiastic -5 stars. I rented this game hoping to find something that was really cool and instead i nearly puiqed. This game doesnt even have yoshi. I like my gameboy affect but this game disgraces the whole thought of having fun. The main reason being the graphics are extreamely poor and its just not fun at all. I know the other game reviews for this game say its sooooo excellent, well I dont know, but they got some really really terrible taste. I rented the game for one of those 5 day rental things and i took it back that very day. If i was you i would listen to my reivew and reconsider buying this game because it is the worst game in the entire world as we know it.

Yes, people, this game sucks huge time. This game came with the original Nintendo system back in late 1980s. I had a hard time trying to beat this game because the control was down right horrible. Most of the time you’ll jump off edges by accident. And who … would pay … to find again the nightmare of this game? Obvious, 82 people who reviewed this game and my friend did.

Hi. I haven’t bought this game yet (but i want to and i am debating between this and UNO) but i reflect it’s pretty excellent by the customer reviews. I like video sports meeting, but i am not too excellent with them, so this would be a exact challenge for me. I reflect that the different levels would be a excellent challenge for everyone that likes (or even likes) video sports meeting. I rate this four stars because i haven’t played this (yet…) but i reflect it’s splendid!

This game is very ancient. You could buy it on the very ancient Nintendo system. It is not very fun and there are not many moves. I recommend you save your $$ and buy another game.

That’s right! The slogin used for Godzilla 1985 is what I’m using to describe this game! The original was a classic! This one brings the classic game back to life with many more challenges! Those who are hooked to those dull bloody sports meeting, like Mortal Kombat, should try the originals, they are way funner!
