Super Mario Advance brings back the fun of Super Mario Bros. in the new game!Amazon.com Review
The world’s favorite plumber makes his first appearance (by the side of with playable characters Luigi, Peach, and Toad) on the Game Boy Advance, and, for the most part, Mario’s arrival is welcome indeed.
Super Mario Advance is primarily a slightly tweaked port of Super Mario Bros. 2, the (still) very well loved side scroller from the days of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). So expect plenty of running, jumping, and hurling of items at many a foe.
The game’s graphics and sound have been a given a nice overhaul from the original game, and are clear and bright enough to please ancient-school and new fans alike. While Nintendo did a excellent job shrinking the visuals down to handheld size, the tiny GBA screen can get very busy at times, making accidental death due to sometimes less-than-precise controls frustratingly normal–at least in the beginning. Most gamers should overcome such mishaps with a small patience.
Also included is the still fun, if forgettable, original Mario Bros. game from many eons ago. Up to four players can engage in a coin-collecting battle mode or the classic mode. Super Mario Advance isn’t the game to show off the potential of the GBA, but it is a long, fun title that will satisfy today’s gamers with a taste from the best of Mario’s past. –Mark Brooks
Pros:
- One of the best NES sports meeting is faithfully ported
- Upgraded sound and graphics
- Gameplay is simple to get into
Cons:
- Somewhat loose controls
- Neither fresh nor original for those who’ve played the NES version

In Mario’s debut on the Game Boy Advance platform, the swashbuckling plumber goes back to what he knows best: side-scrolling adventure. Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad wander this richly colored fantasyland to fight new and original enemies by collecting items to throw at them (alas, the legendary jump attack isn’t enough to discourage these foes). Players are allowed to choose which character they’ll play as–you can even switch between levels–and each in the cast has different strengths. For example, Luigi can jump higher than his brother, Mario, but the plumber is quicker. Super Mario Advance also has a multiplayer game where up to four Game Boy Advance units can be linked together via the separately sold communication cable, allowing you to wage friendly battles for collectible coins using Koopa shells.

I thought this was a excellent game and all, oh and very excellent graphics, I also like how you can pick your own chactactour, but if you question me, I reflect that Super Mario Land of SNES is much bbetter, b/c it contuines to rule the MArio World!

Ok i am disapointed why nintendo choose Super Mario 2 for the realase of Game Boy Advance. For people woh haven’t played it for nes or snes, i guess i can understnad y they like the game. Super Mario 3 was defintaly the 2nd best game on nes to zelda, And Super mario rpg on snes has to be one of the funiest and best sports meeting ever made for snes. I am not really dissing super mario 2, I have to admit it is alot funner to play on game boy advance and it sure looks better, but nintendo has made yet another stupid stupid mistake.

I am a 12 year ancient gamer whos played sports meeting since i was 3 and this was one of the first sports meeting i ever played and its the best because i found it more challenging than any other mario title ive ever played anyway people say its dull because its a clone from the NES version but i dont remember any of the game except the first level and my NES broke and so i cant play it …..sigh but they came out with again!! i like the new features larger enimes and veggies + they have voices, coins to collect and its tight how they have super mario bros. also so its like getting two sports meeting in one and at a splendid price … You can play the game with one game pack with 4 friends in mario bros. and so what if youve played the game once before play it again because its a splendid game and i dont know about you but i always play every game i buy at least 3 times before it gets ancient but i play those sports meeting once in awhile because i forget about them and when i play them there fascinating again and ive been trying to tell my mom every day so i could go to the mall and play it. so the sports meeting not dull if you havent played it since i was 4 OK!!

THIS GAME CAUSDED ME TO BREAK MY GAMEBOY ADVANCE OUT OF PURE RAGE. I THINK THIS IS A GOOD ENOUGH EXAMPLE OF WHY NOT TO BUY THIS GAME. I DO HAVE A COUPLE OF GOOD POINTS ABOUT THIS GAME. IT WAS ENTERTAINING FOR THE FIRST COUPLE OF HOURS, AND THE GRAPHICS WERE AN INPROVEMENT FROM THE GBC. YET I STILL RECOMEND YOU DONT BUY THIS GAME! IF YOU ARE A SHORT TEMPERED GAMER DONT BUY MARIO ADVANCE. RENT IT OR PLAY A FRIENDS (IF U HAVE ANY) BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DONT BUY IT!
