So here we have another Sudoku game for the DS… so what makes this one different from the others? This one has the added bonus of having Kakuro included with it… it’s Sudoku where you have to add up the numbers to make a certain sum, but only use them once in each row… not as unadorned as it sounds… but fun all the same… and you might need your calculator handy.
The Sudoku has a nice red Dragon social class… but there aren’t any changeable backgrounds or fonts like Sudoku Mania has, but, you can write the numbers with your stylus which Sudoku Mania or Sudoku Gridmaster doesn’t offer. Sudoku Gridmaster doesn’t offer different backgrounds or fonts either, nor does either one of the above sports meeting offer Kakuro.
So if you’re a Sudoku fan, and want to try Kakuro, want functionality over variety of a few fonts and backgrounds, then this is a very excellent choice whether for first time beginners or hard core players since the game offers simple, medium and hard puzzles and keeps track of your best times.

I could not waite for the game to get here and i was extremely unsatisfied. I thought that it had a bunch of sudokuro problems to solve and it doesnt, and i despise that you cant write notations to yourself, which is a must have. So do not dissipate your cash on this.

never heard of this game before, until i played it on brain age 2, this version is but not as splendid.
its hard to figure out how to play, if you already have brain age 2 or a different version of suduku , stay away from this one

I bought this game for the Kakuro part, since there are several other available Sudoku sports meeting. The puzzles don’t follow the rules of Kakuro, so it’s virtually unplayable. There should never be a point where you can only get the answer by sheer guessing; you should always be able to work out the number given all of the other clues. You might have to temporarily guess but by following that path you should be able to verify or refute your guess.
The interface is, um, unique, but it is useable. I wouldn’t have given it one star for that. It lets you operate with the buttons rather than the stylus and it takes a bit of getting used to.

As other reviewers have noted, this is a very disappointing version of Sudoku. In addition to their complaints, I would state that I get the same penetrate offered multiple times (both Sudoku and Kakuro). I don’t know if this is because I haven’t met some minimum time? Alacrity is inhibited by the navigation of the game (at least it does let you wrap around from the top of the screen to the bottom, etc.).
One thing I do like about the game is that, being new to Kakuro and not very quick with math, the game tells you when your math does not add up. When I get more proficient with Kakuro, this may become a “leave me alone, darnit” feature, as it is currently on the Sudoku side of the game.
intellect Age’s version is soooo much better – can’t those folks just place out an independent Sudoku?
