What Was Ancient is New Again
Knowing a excellent thing when they see it, Capcom has gone to splendid lengths to ensure that everything that made the legendary Street Fighter II a hit in the arcades, living rooms and dormitories across the globe all those years ago has been brought back in Street Fighter IV, and this naturally starts with the characters. Fans of the franchise, as well as the fighting genre in general, will be pleased to know that whether you prefer to stick with the superior abilities of top tier characters or explore the ins and outs of mid to lower level combatants, when it comes time to pick your fighter there is a wide array of choices. Also, not only will players be able to play as and against their favorite classic characters, such as Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Astuteness, Zangief, Blanka, Sagat, etc., they will also be able to take on new characters. Just a few of these include:

Abel This young French amnesiac comes from a mixed martial arts and mercenary social class and is dedicated to chasing down the remnants of Shadaloo. |
![]() |
Crimson Viper This tough and gorgeous agent assumes a businesslike disposition, ignoring all emotion and obligation to her fellow man. She wears a high-tech suit filled with deadly gadgetry.. |

El Fuerte This fighter divides his time between perfecting his Lucha Libre skills and his cooking abilities, yet surprisingly his indomitable spirit is a match for even the legendary Red Typhoon. |

Rufus This portly fighter has declared himself America’s greatest fighter and uses his own brand of Kung Fu in his decidedly one-sided jealousy with Ken for top dog in the States. |
- 3D environments and characters.
- Traditional “2D” Street Fighter six-button gameplay.
- Classic Street Fighter characters re-imagined for a new generation of gamers, including the original cast of Street Fighter II.
- New brawlers: female super-spy Crimson Viper, lucha libre wrestler El Fuerte, mixed martial artist Abel and more.
- New special moves that go beyond any Street Fighter fan’s wildest imagination, including Focus Attacks, Super Combos, and the revenge-fueled Ultra Combo system.
- Incredible locations never seen before in a Street Fighter game.
- New gameplay elements grant challenges for both newcomers as well as the most seasoned Street Fighter pro.
New Combat Features: Focus Attacks and Ultra Combos
Although Street Fighter IV is designed to draw heavily from past game features in its franchise history, it does offer some stunning new gameplay options. The first of these are Focus Attacks. These moves allow players to absorb the energy from an attack and quickly counter with their own. Used properly, Focus Attacks allow for tremendous flexibility during combat and are the end result of efforts by the game’s development team to evolve combat away from the rigid memorization of set combination patterns, giving players the freedom to be creative against opponents. The other new combat feature are new powered up moves called Ultra Combos. Like standard combos their purpose is to let loose most hurt on an opponent, but unlike the combos of ancient, when performed correctly these long strings of punches, kicks and moves result in changes to the in-game camera angle and quick cinematics which illustrate the strength of your skills like never before. Taken together, these two new features herald Street Fighter IV as the new king of the fighter genre and a force to be reckoned with for years to come.

I’m very excited about the release of Street Fighter IV collector’s edition for playstation 3.

Dont get me incorrect this is a excellent not splendid game with flaws but I only give it 1 star because there’s not anything but Street Fighter 2 characters on here with the exception of a few Alpha and new characters. Where’s the assigned stages for each character? What happen to all the special moves that each character used to have which is like at least 3 instead of just 2 and some characters used to have like 4 or 5 like Akuma! Street Fighter franchise in all aspects is the best fighting game of all time and part 3 by the side of with Alpha 3 was the best ever made in my opinion because it stood out and different from the rest. The same with Capcom vs Snk 2 was the best rival game capcom has made. Where’s Elena,Ibuki,Makoto,Hugo,Dudley,Akex,Yun and Yang,Remy,Twelve,Q,and Urien,Deejay,Eagle? At least Elena,Ibuki,Makoto,Hugo,Dudley and Eagle should of made the cut. How come Capcom want ever release another version of Fighting Evolution to rescue itself over the disappointing first one? Where’s Capcom vs Snk 3? I just hope this game is not the only version and hope to see future upgraded versions with more depth and characters just like in the past with previous Street Fighter sports meeting and also hope this is a fresh start from the dead with more rival sports meeting in the near future

….otherwise, just get the regular edition. Let me tell you why:
1. Anime on Blu-Ray. Resolution piece of junk. Maybe I had a somewhat high expectactions on the anime, but it was really dull to me. Right, it kinda ties the tale back to the cutscenes in the game… but it picks up at a snail’s pace, and there’s no really ‘wow’ factor anywhere in the movie. Seriously, if you’re just getting the collector’s just for the anime. Don’t
2. OST: It’s not complete. I got the OST from another fund, and it contains so much more. The CD that you got with this edition only lists the standard theme for each characters. The one that I got (email me if you want to know where to get it) got the remix version and also the theme song (the one that’s played in the beginning cutscnes)
3. Approach Guide: Again, junk. Not very informative and only contains the new characters… It only displays the manga stylishness drawings from Udon. I in person don’t care. If you do, then by all means, get it.
4. Voucher: brawler costumes pack. This is my personal opinion, but I won’t use any of these characters, so couldn’t care so much. Why couldn’t they include the shoryuken, villain, or beauty packs? Oh yeah… because they will sell the most! (why do we have to spend extra $ for costumes anyway??????)
5. Ryu figurine: I in fact like this one.. pretty well made in my opinion..
Despite all the complaints, I will still give this game 4/5. The game is just too fun.
They lost 1 pt because it’s a pain in the a$$ to unlock seth (why not cheat codes?) although unlocking akuma and gouken was pretty fun. Also, the fact that we have to pay to get alternate costumes. All we were buying is just an ‘unlock’ code for something that’s already available in the disc. Stupid.
Anyway, I chose to sell the game ($95 on craigslist for used!) and get the regular edition.

as for Street Fighter Fan i say….THIS GAME IS AWESOME ,i liked very much .but still i like Street Fight 3 series .

I pre ordered the special edition as I was in high anticipation of the game, having said that the game itself is awesome while the extras are for the street fighter fan only and aren’t really anything to splendid in and of themselves (blue ray,ryu figure, small hint book, and a voucher for the first costume pack) but I was pleased with them.
I also want to mention a few things I have noticed since ive been playing. First the online aspect of the game, be prepared to fight ryu, ken, and akuma 90% of the time online and get hadoken spammed over and over again, also maybe it’s just me or because im usuing a dualshock but the ultra combos are really hard to pull off except with a brilliant few characters. Maybe with a gamepad or fight stick itd be simpler.
One more thing is that I reflect the final boss seth is frustratingly hard even on the simple setting in arcade, their is a learning curve to this game that im not sure casual players can master without a significant time investment. In conclusion I would recommend it to anyone who likes fighting sports meeting because their isn’t a better one out their right now just be aware of its quirks.
