Product Description

No other RTS game combines the unprecedented level of immersion and emotional intensity with the scale and depth that The Creative Assembly (Total War series) has become legendary for. Stormrise breaks tradition with the genre¿s typical top-down viewpoint, allowing players to explore and track enemies in multi-dimensional areas, including everything from high-rise rooftops to underground caverns. With revolutionary controls designed particularly for consoles, players will lead their troops from the front in the midst of explosive battles to place an end to years of bloody conflict between the Sai and the Echelon races.

When I first saw and heard about this game it sounded so promising. When I finished playing it after a mammoth session, i only had one thought. “What were they thinking?”, and not in a excellent way either.
Real Time Approach sports meeting (RTS) have never really worked on console, and sadly this is another failed attempt. The only really excellent things about this game are the presentation and the unique ‘whip-brilliant’ control method. Sadly every other aspect of the game from graphics to sound to the diabolical AI is a real let down. Dont expect a Command & Conquer or even a Halo Wars. Because this game is not in the same ball park as either of those. Probably best to avoid this one. Maybe give it a rental to try it out. Unfortunately I despised it.

This game is first of its kind in PS3. I been so bored with the same ancient first person shooting type game, and that’s what PS3 keeps making. This game is certainly a change. Its right, this game certainly needs some improvement on the control, but what do you expect with RTS on a controller. The map is really huge, and fighting at every corner, I reflect its really awesome.

I usually don’t have much to complain about in a game, but this is purely dreadful. Most people’s main complaint is the “clumsy interface.” It’s right, the interface takes a lot of getting used to. But, even then, individual unit AI is so pathetic it’s saddening. units will cancel special attack and defense modes on their own, run up to enemies without fighting, and occasionally teleport around the map like First Person Shooter lag. I’ve also noticed that one of the units, supposedly making a large explosion, has no graphics when attacking and things under it simply die mysteriously. Honestly, I have my doubts that they even finished this game before releasing it.

I like RTS sports meeting and have been playing them for a long time. Command & Conquer, Supreme Commander and many, many others.
Stormrise has a splendid concept and decent storyline, but the control scheme will really frustrate you. The developers made a unit selection system known as “Whip Brilliant”, which probably looked excellent on paper during development but they couldn’t quite nail the execution.
My largest complaint for this game is just the controls and horrible camera control. I should not have to feel like I’m fighting with the controls when all I want to do is command a unit to walk up a series of ramps. Expect to babysit every release unit while giving commands.
I’d say rent this game or wait till it comes down in price.
