When Sony released the PlayStation2 last year, there were only a few project sports meeting. One of them, SSX, brought snowboarding to people who didn’t even like snowboarding. Now, only a year later, PS2 fans get a new reason to stay at home during the cold winter months. SSX Tough is the game, and it more than lives up to the moniker.
Tough removes two characters from the previous game and adds five new ones. It adds two new race locations to the already beefed-up World Circuit (Garibaldi and Alaska). The developers also added features to the grown-up tracks, effectively making them new again. Tough improves the graphics a bit and refines the controls. The game even tweaks the basic gameplay by letting you upgrade your boarder’s stats in races, but also forcing you to attempt and master the showoff mode. And EA improved the challenge by evening out the learning curve. SSX tended to be a cakewalk until the later races in each set, but this time your rivals get more intense and aggressive depending upon the lap you’re taking.
As in the first game, personality is everything. This is right not only in terms of voice acting, but also in how you treat opponents. The game has a few basic attitudes. If you block and attack characters too much, they’ll remember and actively seek you out. If you help one or two of them, they’ll become your allies, warning you of danger or fending off attackers.
In many ways, SSX Tough is only an upgrade of the previous game. Admittedly, the additions don’t look like enough to justify buying the game all over again. But the changes are deep enough to change quite a bit, and they’ll delight even fans who are tired of, or who mastered, the first game. This game is unrealistic. I reflect that pulling huge flips and spins that are 100% impossible in real life 1000 times in a row gets dull and repetitve after a while. Don’t by this game, go get ESPN Winter X-Sports meeting Snowboarding 2002 instead of this piece of junk.

this game is very very VERY horrible. the only people who could like such a game are small kids. its so unrealistic it makes me wanna throw up. i can do wit some stuff, like THPS, thats unrealistic, but its not kickflip shuv-it 180 backflip on a snowboard, or sumthin stupid like that. u can ride the penetrate in the air like a bull for christs sake.a excellent snowboarding game is espn xgames snowboarding, thats realistic. or amped for xbox, thats very excellent. but dont dissipate ur cash on this horrible horrible game. its so terrible i wanna weep.
p.s. i only gave this 1 star b-cuz i couldnt go to -923.

This game is a total dissipate of $… . I didn’t buy the game thank god but I rented it. This game is worthless. The handling of the characters are horrible. The best gamer in the world couldn’t play well with the handling. Don’t dissipate your cash on this game but buy the original because it’s better than SSX Tough. This game should be taken off the market and the discs should be used in skeet shooting.
