It’s fun to ignore all these mad small net-Trolls, whining about how Huge Brother is out to get them and ruin their lives. DRM is not a conundrum unless you have 1) a crummy computer 2) you play around with your hardware too much or 3) you plot on trying to make cash off EA’s product. These are usually the same geeks and dweebs that pay $30 every 2 months to play World of Warcraft, where they don’t own their character, hackers ruin the game for hundreds of players every month, and you own NOTHING. So, these hipocrites need to shut up!
Now, on to the GAME REVIEW!!!
This game is FUN FUN FUN! It does go by a small quickly, but that just makes the variety this game packs, with the infinite possibilities afforded by such a vast game, more of an asset. You’ll play GOD dozens, if not hundreds of times, seeing what works best and what doesn’t. I don’t know of anyone who’s in fact bought the game who has said anything other than how extremely fun and addicting this game is.
Take that mad netTrolls and baby-wa-waas! The game is fun! It’s creative! It’s awesome! The DRM isn’t an issue unless there’s a reason for it to be an issue, and you’re the active cause for that reason! Dorks! Get it into your primitive, un-evolved minds!

It is a splendid game. Ive played it for a few hours and its getting harder. You start out as a cell and go owing to the 5 Stages, Cell, Creature, Tribe, Civilization, and Space.
i don’t know why everyone keeps fussing about the DRM program. If you Upgraded to Windows Outlook you could only actvate it once. and you have 3 times on Spore.

So I bought this, I was all hyped and then after the 1st delay, I quit following the hype and just waited for the game to come out. So it did, and I selected it up, not expecting something revolutionary but expecting something close to the sims. Any well thats what I got. Its a fun game and if you like the sims you will find yourself delight in thing. The graphics may not be mind blowing, the audio is pretty fascinating, and the game play is just fun. As for the evolution. As you grow not anything has changed so far but based upon how you build your creature and what you give him, really makes up for that.
But there are some cons, because this game is not exact.
1) Video settings may need to be adjusted.
2) I can see people complaining about repetiveness. If you are not a sims fan or you dont like doing something similiar over and over again, you may not delight in this. Tribal stage was the worst at this, I couldnt ally anyone but I could kill them.
3) Up to the Tribal stage its sadly really simple, I cant tell you past that.
4) lack of online interactivity. It kinda sucks that you cant join your friends and kill them or ally them and take over a world. That would be fun.
5) As much as I like gameplay, I with when I told my tribe to build something, one of my tribal members would build it. Kinda Civ stylishness.
So, now onto extras:
The making of spore is like any other making of DVD…Sadly small and you really don’t get a right feel for the making of the game.
The Nation geographic DVD, is in fact pretty fascinating. I found myself enjoying this.
The book, Well I havent looked thru it yet.
The Hard plastic case. Well thats kinda cool, atleast its not some cheap cardboard like like of the “special” editions.
If you are not a sucker for extras and you want a quality game, with alot of SIMs thrown in, get the regular edition of spore.
this game is far from exact. If you fell for the hype, then you will be dissapointed. There really is not anything revolutionary about this game, It is pretty much the Sims with creatures that you birth.
But that being said, I still give it a 4 because this game is fun, it is IMO worth the $50 for the reg atleast. I just hope when you buy this game you dont go into it thinking this is the end all of all sports meeting.
BTW: Yes DRM is here, dont listen to the people that want to Pirate it, they are just sad because they had to buy it, expected something life changing and didnt get it. DRM is a excellent thing for the industry. If alot of you really knew how many hours these guys spent effective on this game, you would know. Being a programmer myself simple projects take hours, medium projects take days, Spore takes months/Years. Just reflect about it…they spent probably 12-20 hrs a day away from family to make a game you would delight in.

The game is very well done. I’ve played owing to all the levels and really liked how everything is connected. I haven’t had any real issues with the game either. There is a bit of a learning curve but the game is about discovery so the learning was fun. Also, the DRM issue isn’t as huge as people make it out to be. Most people don’t reformat drives, add new pieces of hardware, nor get new computers. The frequency that those things are done is minimal so the DRM isn’t a conundrum. Besides, Maxis is willing to work with the customer to get problems resolved.
By and large, The stages are fun. The game has something for everyone because of the many stages and is a splendid edition to the family sports meeting.
