Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity finds Sega and Sonic Team following pretty much the same formula they did with the original Sonic Riders, so not much has really changed since the last time around. The same character crew from last year are here yet again, as is the generic feel of the race tracks. What really hurts Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity but is that the controls are unpolished and unresponsive. This is the same conundrum that the first Sonic Riders game had, and that flaw is ever present here again as well. Also, the racing itself just doesn’t seem quick enough, which was also present the last time around with the first Sonic Riders. Sonic has always been about alacrity, and you’d reflect a racing game that featured Sega’s mascot on hoverboards would be all about the alacrity, yet the game never, ever, feels like it’s quick at all. Graphically, the character models and most of the racing environments look pretty excellent, while once again, the Sonic characters feature their own voices and dialogue (please Sega, stop), and there are online leaderboards to follow, yet no real online play. If you loved the first Sonic Riders game, chances are you’ll delight in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, solely based on the fact that not much has changed, and there’s really not anything all that different from the last time around either.

If you liked the first Sonic Riders you may want to reflect twice about this one the controls and abilities are completely different and can get tedious. We got it as a birthday gift for our son we played it for maybe 2 or 3 days and then just got tired of trying to figure everything out.

Back a couple of years ago, Sonic the Hedgehog returned with a game that built for racing beyond light years with Sonic Riders. The game was absolutely such an underground success, it really showed that Sonic could certainly head back into the spotlight well. Sadly though, he hasn’t been able to fully re-capture his glory days the way he really could. But, that hasn’t bunged the need to build around a sequel that is meant for die hard Sonic fans, as he ggets ready to race his way into hearts all over with another need for hedgehog alacrity on the Playstation 2. But, the question is will Sonic ride his way to fierceness, or is this a crash and burn?
Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity for the Playstation 2, takes what make Sonic Riders a success, and builds in a sequel. This time, you get the same racers owing to 16 all-new courses that defy grounds of Zero G. You can choose from the same racers as before like Sonic, Dr. Robotnik A.K.A. Eggman, Rogue, and Tails. The graphics look just as excellent as they did beofre, and the control is very strong here. There are a few new features here including gravity control, which lets you turn parapet into new tracks and shortcuts by the side of your path, as well as vehicle upgrades which make the game go above the extreme. Most of the game works just the same as it did before, as you earn points by performing stunts to keep the alacrity alive while racing your way to first place. Sadly, there is one huge disadvantage here in the PS2 version. It lacks the use of playing against others online, unlike the Nintendo Wii edition, which lacks in multiplayer action.
All in all, Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity isn’t a terrible PS2 title, and works as a decent racing game. But it isn’t really an over the top sequel to Sonic and his mad dash to the end line. It does a fare job at appealing to those who’ve loved the original Sonic Riders, but misses out in battling against others in multiplayer action. It is a excellent trial game, but not as definitive as PS2 fans could’ve wanted in a racer.

The game and grafics are okay, the conundrum is the difficulty to know and manage the gameplay.
