Can you sing like it’s 1990, 1991, 1992…1999? SingStar 90s is a well loved game in which players sing to music videos in order to score points. Players interface with their Playstation 2 via USB microphones while a music video plays on screen. Lyrics are shown at the bottom of the screen. SingStar 90s matches a player’s song voice to the original track, with players scoring points according to how accurate their singing is. It’s Karaoke with a twist using your PS2 system.

The game is splendid, with a splendid selection of songs. Unfortunatly when I bought it I was expecting the songs I saw on the amazon site for it. Turns out this is the AU/UK version of the game, the US version has some other songs on it.

I like playing Singstar ’90s! The only thing I’m a small disappointed about is that there is an Australian version that has some different songs on it like Aqua “Barbie Girl” and the Barenaked Ladies “One Week” that I really would have liked being on this game. Other than that I hope they keep coming out with new sports meeting!

The other reviews do a excellent job of explaining why it is fun. The major conundrum I have with it is that Singstar sports meeting are the only sports meeting I know of that that do not work with a USB microphone. You MUST use the Singstar brand microphones (not included). Forcing you to use proprietary hardware is bogus.
Also, the lyrics are showed in two shape of text. This does not work as well as Rock Band’s right-to-left scrolling method.

I got this for my daughter for Christmas, we had a lot of fun singing the songs together. I like it because the songs are all ones my husband and I used to listen to a lot. A lot of fun for the family!
