Well,I didn’t know that this was a new game, just learned it on amazon.com just now.I haven’t played any of the silent hill sports meeting yet,but I plot to in the very near future though. My freind completed it once, like 10 years ago,(first one)and It was awesome. All that I remembered was that he needed a special weapon to defeat the final boss, from what I can remember! The tale was horrifying, somewhat original(I say somewhat because of the Resident Evil sports meeting that were out at the time.)I know that there are alot of SH sports meeting on the PS2,wich is really cool!I like a excellent horror movie or game now and again.I am hoping that when I get my slim ps2 next week that it is backwards compatable for the first SH,If not I’ll have to start with SH2 which is okay too.from what I’ve seen and heard it is an awesome franchise of horror sports meeting for the ps2 and should be lots of fun when I play it!

Just got this game.
I still don’t have a new system, just a PS2.
I played this game for a couple hours. Its the first Silent Hill game I’ve ever played. Graphics are excellent but effective with the flashlight isn’t the simplest thing to do & gets kind of frustrating. So far, there’s not really much to do other than walk around, yell your daughters name & go your flashlight around looking at stuff you really can’t do anything with. The button you use to cooperate with objects also works as the ’shout’ button to call your daughters name so its kind of irritating to go up to things you reflect you can cooperate with only to yell out a name.
There are very few things to cooperate with so far in the 2 hrs I’ve played, only doors and parapet to climb. There haven’t been any puzzles yet. You can’t really search anything. Hidden items aren’t really hidden, they’re in obvious places. I’ve only been in one ‘nightmare sequence’ so far but the enemies are very quick & kind of hard to run from. Hiding doesn’t really do anything, the enemies end up walking back & forth in front of where you’re hiding (even the ones that couldn’t have seen you go into the room with the place to hide) so that when you exit, you’re welcomed to a room full of enemies you can’t really avoid. You also cannot do anything against these enemies (the flare helps but I’ve only found one so far so there aren’t many) until they hop on your back which prompts a button pushing sequence you must match to throw them off, kind of dull.
This is one of those sports meeting where I didn’t expect a lot but figured the tale line sounded sufficient to really make it hard to make a dull game… but, they succeeded. I’ve never really given a terrible review, this is my first but it’s certainly worth it. I’m really disappointed. I know PS2 is dying but you could’ve done something to this to make it remotely fun. I certainly recommend passing on this & possibly trying to find one of the grown-up sports meeting since their reviews make the series sound better than this game. Again, I’ve only played this for a couple hrs but I haven’t come across anything that makes me want to keep playing.

Alright I’m halfway owing to the game. The tale is the only thing that’s keeping me going. Now I wouldn’t say this game is God dreadful …but it sure isen’t all that fun. The puzzles have been pretty awesome so far. But without weapons and bosses …and ofcourse fighting, it lacks in the entertainment department. I in fact thought this game would be a lot worse without a fighting system. It’s pretty scary, but not as gore-filled as the other ones. I could reveal more, but I won’t. I just don’t want to persuade your buy. If you’re a hardcore SH fan, you’ll like this game, though I hardly believe it’s like the first one at all …i would say a unique interpretation but not accurate representation. The whole game is filled with hidden memorabelia from all the other sports meeting, so it makes you reflect hey, wouldnt it be splendid if this stuff was interactive in the game too …but no, its just for show and tell. Oh and you cant go to the “other world” as you so please like in the other sports meeting …its woven within the plot (and no mirror interaction).
It’s a small bit like part 4 but not nearly as well done. It ruins right to survival horror and the psychological viewpoint behind it but lacks in entertainment.

Brilliant addition to the Silent Hill series. I’m glad they didn’t just make a straight remake of the first SH game. There is not anything that can be done to make the
original trilogy any better! The timing for this new Silent Hill couldn’t be better!!
Silent Hill proves once again it’s reigning status in it’s given genre. Simply superb!
5 stars!
Highly recommended!

I have been with Silent Hill since the first game came out. I can still remember the goosebumps I got playing the first few that followed it, lots of freak you out scares that have stuck with me. Images that stick in your mind. The only thing scary to me about this particular game is that it has Silent Hill’s name attached to it. I wanted to like it. I wanted it to be the game that proves the American developers really can keep the series going with quality sports meeting but it isn’t.
I wasn’t frightened or unnerved even once by anything that happens in this game other than the fact that if you walk too close to a wall the screen goes completely black because the lighting is so poor. The overuse of shadows makes frustration rather than suspense. I had the bolt from the blue ending figured out not even halfway owing to the tale – that is the largest disappointment, too, because when I’m playing a SH game I don’t want to know where the tale is going until I’m at the end. I want the kind of bombshell moment SH2 made, the kind of moment that really changes your perception of everything you’ve seen up to that point. The graphics are hideous. The controls are frustrating. If I wasn’t so stubborn I’d have quit long before I finished it. The psychological profiling the game uses seems pretty sad, too. The assessment in the end credits was really off compared the answers I’d given and the changes that take place during a second play owing to are just that – changes in scenery or character outfits that do not anything to scare. Seriously a stuffed mountain lion turned into a stuffed goose the second time around and that was supposed to frighten me because???
That being said this game wasn’t ALL terrible. I admire what they tried to do and hope they’ll build on and fix the concept if they make another game. It was better than Origins and the soundtrack, as always, is awesome. It’s just a sad reminder that the series has lost the shine it once had all those years ago. I’d rather replay SH2 any day.
