I bought the previous version of this PS3 Shadow Wireless Controller with Rumble. Go take a look, exact same name minus the “6″, same company, comes in the exact same box, etc. This is the new SKU, I guess. I have not bought this new “version”, so my comments apply to the product located at the link above, not this one. Maybe this is different, maybe not… you be the judge on that one. Let me instead tell you of my previous experience.
I bought the Shadow Controller because of the ergonomics and I am not a huge fan of the Dual-Shock design. I wanted something more like the 360 controller. I read the first 3 or 4 reviews for the controller and they were all glowing with praise. So I paid up, got the controller, loved the feel, tested it out… and it was junk. The analog controls were unresponsive unless pressed nearly all the way to the end, and the top left corner of the left analog stick would reset back to 0. Of course this made playing sports meeting with the Shadow Controller clumsy at best, impossible at worst.
I wrote an honest review of my experience and received this as a note to my review, “Please call dreamGEAR customer service department to help with this matter. 1-877-777-3732.” by a name that appeared to be from a company expressive of dreamGEAR.
I called the number and spar to someone about the problems I was having with the controller. They immediately understood what I was talking about without having to give much details. My depression was they were aware of the problems and of the terrible reviews that were starting to roll in. The expressive told me to give some personal information to them, including my home phone number, and a manager would call me back within a few hours, telling me what they chose to do to fix my conundrum.
Well, I guess they chose they were not going to return my phone call as a solution, because there were no phone rings, no caller ID, and no messages left on my phone.
Could I have followed-up? Sure, but why bother? Consumers generally don’t like having to aggressively pursue a remedy to a faulty third party console peripheral. I simply chalked that one up to ‘buyer beware’ and took the loss.
Other terrible reviews started rolling in on that product page. Analog sticks not effective, terrible customer service, performance disappointing. It started to look like those early few glowing reviews were way off mark. And then, lo and behold, here is a new product with a new SKU called the “Shadow 6 Wireless Controller”. Same company, same look, same box, same colors, etc… And a few early glowing reviews, some even claiming the specific problems with the other “version” have been fixed.
Well, dreamGEAR? You know where to find me.

I’ve been looking for a Xbox-stylishness controller for PS3 and this is by far the best one. The feel is splendid and the analog layout is just what I was looking for. The price is really excellent too.

Design:
The shadow controller is the ideal controller to buy for ps3 because of its design. The unparallel analog sticks does help increase your performance and is splendid for all sports meeting. The buttons do work really nice and the triggers are significantly better than the dualshock and have better grip. The outside of the controller is made of a slight mix between rubber and plastic and helps because your hands grip the controller and your hands dont sweat and the controller doesn’t slip. The controller i also larger than the dualshock and this helps a lot because your hands do not cramp or strain to grab or press a button on the controller.
Inside the controller:
The controller has brilliant rumble and the wireless does work very well, but it does not have motion sensor and i may have selected up the ancient version of this but make sure you are not aiming for a motion sensor controller if you want to buy this. There is no lag or delay in this controller and i played for hours and not a release delay.
Cons:
The controller is not for snipers and this is because its analog dead zone/sensitivity zone is larger than other controllers. To fix this conundrum i suggest buying some FPS Freak analog extensions for the controller to sense more. Go to http://www.amazon.com/FPS-Freek-Xbox360-Playstation-3/dp/B002R2JCNK for Fps freak product.
My other con is that there is a USB dongle and i suggest that you buy a usb hub so that you can fit your other usb supplies.
My last con is that you cannot turn on or off the ps3 but this is not really a conundrum sense getting off your butt and going to turn on/off the ps3 is not the toughest thing in the world.
Overview and Opinion:
I reflect this is a controller that will certainly help gamers and people who like the design of the Xbox 360 controller and would like a comfortable gaming experience. I have tried this controller with many sports meeting including Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Batman Arkham asylum, and Mag. Its also a cheaper controller and it will help all ps3 owners. And i do in fact own this controller and i suggest buying 2, also his as a 100% honest review.

I bought this controller because I was used to the XBOX stylishness of paddle. It seems to work splendid with my PS3 and seems to do everything I want it to.

this is a splendid controller, it very comfortable for a man with a spinual cord injury that left me with hands that have limited moblity. it would be just splendid if i could have the manufacture change the function of the two joy stick. but all in all i liked it a lot
