Product Description
SEGA Ages: Classics Pool features enhanced versions of Fantasy Zone, Golden Axe, Monaco GP, Tant R/Bonanza, Alien Syndrome, Columns, Outrun, V.R. (Virtual Racing), and Space Harrier. Each one of the ten sports meeting place on the Sega Classics Pool disc started its life several years ago as one-off budget sports meeting produced and published by an off-shoot company of Sega’s: 3D Ages. The thought of the 3D Ages scheme was to delve into Sega’s backlog of classic sports meeting and revive them in more contemporary 3D engines and designs at a budget price. Sports meeting like After Burner II, Alien Syndrome, Golden Axe and other Sega brands were given additional life as new developments on the PlayStation 2.

After a slow wave of dull sports meeting from Sega, they are finally making sports meeting like they used to! This compilation is the best $20 you’ll ever spend on a game with brilliant replay regard. The sports meeting are basically left intact as their original counterparts (same music, gameplay, etc.), but are enhanced with dazzling affect graphics and techno-like remixes of the music and sounds and some extra or modified backgrounds/levels(unlike some game remakes where the sounds are bland or the graphics or gameplay has completely changed to the point where you don’t reflect you are still playing the game of the same name). Looks like the same group of individuals who made Sega sports meeting in the past has revitalized to make this one. Although I am pretty disappointed that the same Ferrari is no longer used in OutRun (probably for licensing reasons no doubt).
The challenge level is just right also (not too simple or hard). Some sports meeting offer unlimited continues, while others don’t.
I reflect these sports meeting will only appeal to those of the grown-up days (late 80s to early 90s players)– especially those who grew up with the Sega Genesis. If you are into newer, more honest sports meeting like Halo 2 or other strategic type, multi-button critical, 360 degree spinning, 1st person perspective type sports meeting, this pool might not be your cup of tea (you might call this pool “gay” because it’s not a honest, life-like simulator game).
All in all, a splendid pool of 10 sports meeting. Now if only Sega could bring back their other sports meeting like Zaxxon in enhanced graphics– yeah, that would be the ultimate pool!

The conundrum lies not in the sports meeting but in the people. Those who have reviewed this, have seriously hurt this. It’s nowhere near as terrible as others say. They are some of my favorites. THose who reviewed this are not really Pool experts, merely the contrary.

If you’re a fan of the late 70’s-early 80’s video sports meeting, this is one to add to your pool! I initially bought this for just two of the sports meeting on it(Alien Syndrome and Outrun…I dished out TONS of quarters at the arcade back in the day on these suckers!), but the rest of the pool were quarter-grabbers for me, too, so all-in-all, it was a very excellent buy. Now if I can just find one of the ancient-stylishness Space Invaders tabletop sports meeting…..
