For Windows 98 and upAmazon.com Review
If you can’t find anyone to play with you because you’re just too excellent–or you just don’t like cleaning up small wooden tiles–the Scrabble CD-ROM is for you. Up to four players (human or computer) can play on a variety of boards and backgrounds (try chrome in the desert for that Road Warrior look). You can choose your computer opponent from five levels of difficulty, from Novice to Champion, or you can make your own custom opponent, based on a chesslike rating.
Play is speedy and satisfying; the sounds of the tiles clicking on the penetrate are alarmingly realistic. You can challenge words, be challenged yourself, or find definitions of words you don’t know in the online Official Scrabble Dictionary. (You can even receive hints and suggestions from the “Maven.”)
Online multiplayer is in full force, too. Play with bored students in Oxford using the network features; though this slows the game down depending on your Internet connection rate, you’ll find you need more time to crush your human challengers anyway. Sharpen your skills with the minigames: find two- or three-letter words, do anagrams, or find the best play with a given setup. Even if you’re a regular Scrabble player, you should find yourself returning to your computer time and again, either to brush up or to try again against the champion. –Rob Lightner Amazon.com Product Description

I have this game but the one and it is a lot of fun. I want the one that came out before this one did. I had it in my computer but when I had the computer worked on it was lost. How can I find the grown-up version? Scrabble of any kind is right up my alley. ELL

Awesome game. I’ve played electronic hand-held, deluxe version, original version, and this one is the best. Has many special features and special effects. Many sports meeting levels. Terrific graphics!

A classic game that can be installed and transfered to your netbook as normal files. Yes, this grown-up version knows not anything of DRM install it to a machine with a CD guide then copy C:Scrabblescrabble.exe and associated files to a second folder twice. Example C:Scrabble1 Then copy C:Scrabble again to C:Scrabble1Scrabble. Make the starting shortcut from the second copied directory. it will question you to go a couple dll’s to the windows system32 folder. DONE! and now the CD can now stay safe and scratch free in the jewel case.
Only one CD needed in a decade is very terrible for the publisher as the CD will never need to be replaced and the grown-up dictionary files in this game can be easily upgraded.
This must be run in 256 affect mode but it is much simpler to see the larger penetrate in this version.

I really loved the game on my ancient computer but now I have a Windows 2000 NT and cannot get it to work. I am hoping they will place out an upgraded game so that I can use it again. I really miss playing the game on my computer. I also have a high alacrity connection. Does anyone know if they will come out with an upgrade?

I have Windows 98 and of course have to switch to 256 colors, which isn’t too terrible. The conundrum is that after about 12 minutes of playing the colors “go crazy” and fade out to where you can’t read the letters. To continue playing you have to hit the interrupt the game button, minimiz, and then bring back up and unpause the game. This happens every 12 minutes while in play. I’ve had my computer checked and it’s not my computer. It is still fun to play, if you don’t mind getting interrupted every 12 miniutes.
