Sacred 2: Fallen Angel is an Action Role-playing Game (RPG) where the paths players choose and the decisions they make by the side of the way, determine not only the destinies of their character, but also that of their chosen race as a whole, members of the other five other in-game races, and perhaps the game world of Ancaria itself. Set 2,000 years prior to the self-titled first game in the Sacred series, Fallen Angel is prequel to the events and quests of earlier RPG hit, that drops players in the midst of an epic struggle for control of elemental potential on the grandest of scale.

The Tale
T-Energy has been flowing owing to Ancaria since time immemorial. This mysterious potential forms the beginning of all life, is the fund of all magic and the origin of all thought. For eons the angelic Seraphim watched over the T-Energy and therefore over the fate of the entire world. But eventually tiring of their burden, they passed their knowledge on to the High Elves. T-Energy helped the realm of the High Elves to experience an unimaginable boost of prosperity, making it the reigning culture in Ancaria. But a force as powerful as T-Energy carries splendid dangers. Not taught how to deal with this, no sooner did the Elves take control, then a heated dispute erupted among them as to how and to what purpose the T-Energy was to be used. Dispute morphed into irresolvable conflict, then rift and eventually to a civil war among the High Elves, where all participants were scum. Their realm collapsed and with it the entire potential structure of Anacaria. In the turmoil all the peoples of Anacaria coveted the right, either openly or in secret, to wield the potential of T-Energy and in the end, unmanaged, the T-Energy raged out of control warping creature and lands alike. Can anyone regain control over the T-Energy. And if so, will he/she strive to prevent the world from lapsing into final chaos, or deepen it?

First, the DMR authentication process, requires you open port on your firewall just to even play the game in release player mode. That right to play in release player mode you need to ports on your firewall. Now if that part wasn’t terrible enough, when you run there contemporary patch, it’s fails. The instruction given by there support, is too, first delisence the product (over penetrate DMR), then uninstall, then run a clean up agent. Shut down all running apps on your computer and reinstall. Then run a manual version of there patch.
This is dreadful design and terrible programing. I would recommend avoiding ascaron and cdv all together as a whole.
Blind Guardian demo, isn’t nice to include a, audio version of sacred.

here ill post the review on the normal game i wrote:
Firstly let me say i was REALLY looking forward to this game.
Unfortunately if you played the first game from launch you will remember how buggy it was, how at a snail’s pace things got fixed, and how it felt like Ascaron did not care about you at all. Welcome to sacred 2!
While in 2 years i’m sure the game will be playable and fully rock, currently it is a complete disappointment. Most of us cant advance the multiplayer campaign mode without finding some poor sod to do it for us, MOST of the tele-portico things don’t work (even though you can see them on your map), and alot of players cant make a multiplayer game PERIOD after level 60.
To look at things aside from the ones glaring me in the face every time i try to play this game… There are tons of invisible parapet, the pathing is just dumb (as-in my temple guardian seems to be doing something tea-bag related to monsters i am trying to attack MOST of the time..he just kinda wants to get close to them ..even if he’s a foot away, he wants to get 6 inches closer…and if the monster moves, he wants to get closer again), you need a pretty high end machine to run it (not really a con, but the performance vs. spec. ratio is way off -MSI 8800 ultra, 8 gigs ram, 3.2 ghz dual core processor, outlook premium 64 and i STILL get sudden drops in performance every now and then for no obvious reason..i un-installed the elite GFX and it changed not anything so it isn’t really the conundrum, i reflect in general its poorly coded), and the networking is garbage. Now i play online a lot, and have for a long time now, i know the difference between dropped frames and lag and differentiate, this is lag in the worst possible way, switching combat arts=a 1.3 sec delay, drinking a potion before you die about 1 solid second (which in game=time is life and death) there are few things worse in gaming than waiting for a server to realize you drank a potion a second ago as your shape bar keeps dropping.
On still a third level i am one of the schmucks that bought the CE. It is THE cheesiest CE i have seen in 30+ years of gaming. the only thing i can reflect of that comes close was i once bought a comic book that was collectible simply because it had a hole owing to the center of the cover.
The map is the same map you have in game before you uncover anything, the cd sampler is a joke (not that i care for the band or anything), and worst of all all 4 disks are stacked onto 1 bindle. the elite GFX disk while a nice gesture is from what i hear soon to be available for download anyways and can currently be pirated pretty much without penalty as it is; despite paying customers having to deal with DRM.
Now for the positives. has splendid character development and alot of possibilities for each class (though not as many as sacred underworld since there aren’t as many classes). The graphics are real tight and the world is rich with small details, i don’t reflect there is an empty table in the whole game, every release one seems to have various beakers, books, or tons of other small intricacies scattered on and around them. The difficulty online is adjustable, so you can turn it up if you don’t feel you are being challenged, and the monsters are sometimes quite impressive.
The sounds are just “ok” but thats the norm in any game (with the exception of a few starwars sports meeting i rarely see sound effects that go off without a hitch), the weather is pretty impressive at times, especially in lightning storms, and the world in general feels very huge and very alive.
In 2 years i can safely say this game will be a knock out. For now it sucks horribly, it has been WEEKS without most of us being able to simply play the game as it was intended, and Ascaron does not seem to care at all (nor do anything about it obviously). I feel like they are putting all their effort into pushing out the console version which i guess they don’t know is going to get them nowhere if all the PC players (who ARE in fact their bread and butter) are badmouthing their game and giving it horrible reviews (as if we don’t talk to console gamers or something).
in small look to pick this game up in 2010 when it will most likely finally be playable.
[...]
that is a link to the sports meeting official forums, while they do delete A LOT of posts just a quick glance will show people who have been having problems for MONTHS now getting ZERO response from ascaron..
the worst part of it all is they just released the “ART” that comes with the CE for free on the site, so the elite GFX is only a matter of time.
by the way, the servers are LOCATED in germany!!!!!!!! why they released a separate NA version of the game leads to only 1 conclusion, they wanted more cash. now mind you the euro players are on a separate server than the US players, but BOTH those servers ARE in fact at time of this writing located in germany (as indicated by tracert protocols).
the 4 song disk by blind guardian = whoop de doo (even more so than “who are these guys?”), and the carrier imp is only usable in closed net…yes the closed net that is online only and has been pretty much un-playable since launch (see link above). they are not fixing anything or even commenting on the situation. the release player part of this game is worth 20$ at MOST! there is no way anyone should pay for a game to be developed except venture capitalists, yet here we have ascaron acting asif. they never even fixed needing to alt+tab after launching the client to get the mouse to work from the free trial!! yet they use a securom that can only be activated TWICE to protect this trash! pings of over 600 for closednet on my 30 meg line? its a disgrace to gaming and a BIG disgrace to germany (possibly the largest in history since they released this BY CHOICE).
in closing if you completely dis-regard everything i said above i want to note: 1 of the load screens says the cause of ALL this sports meeting issues..
“developed and tested on DELL” (apparently germany doesn’t know dell is to PC what the Yugo was to the automobile)

This is another game where the publisher thought that Securom was the only way to stop piracy. Well let me tell you something, this game is not even worth cracking or downloading the pirate version if there is one. The game is buggy, the graphics are outdated, and there is not anything new in the game play. Just my humble opinion, a friend of mine made the mistake of buying it and he showed it to me. Now, he can even get rid of it on Ebay because nobody will buy it. I guess they accomplished what they wanted to do, kill the second hand market. COD4 sold thousand of copies and the game doesn’t have intall limits. YES, excellent sports meeting don’t need crappy DRM. I can live with a CD check…
Let me tell you what you get: 2 installations for a terrible buggy game. So, if you own a desktop and a laptop and you want to play the game on both PCs like I do. I take my laptop when I travel, then you would have used up all your installations. This means that if one PC fails or you upgrade your hardware, you have to call Customer Support. Excellent luck with that!!! Or what happens 2 years from now and you bought a new PC and you want to re-install the game and the company is no longer in affair. Well, you guessed it, throw the game away or find the crack online. In other words, you wasted your cash or you have to act like a pirate. The latter, may expose your PC to viruses and trojans…
Don’t let these companies treat you like a pirate. You bought the game you have limited right to such game, this include no installation limits and selling it if you don’t like it. There is a class action lawsuit against EA because of this type of DRM, so if you bought this game and feel cheated I encourage you to friend those lawyers and send them your info. I reflect this one makes a better case….

The original Sacred was a splendid game that, although not exactly groundbreaking, it offered many hours of action-cRPG fun. What is more, its publisher had the excellent sense to price it practically from the start and thus fight piracy in the most effective way.
SACRED 2, although enjoys more demanding environmental graphics and spell effects, is just another victim of clueless gaming industry executives. Instead of learning from the history of their own game, they’d rather idiotically jump on the “SecuROM/Limited Activations” bandwagon. After all, if they can hide behind the “everyone is doing it” excuse, who can hold responsible them when the game does poorly?
They are obviously under the illusion that selling at full price a game that is in fact RENTED will fail to be…noticed! Respect is a two way street – and underestimating gamers’ intelligence is not a excellent start.
It is a bring shame on that SACRED 2 got shot in the foot by its own publisher. Now, instead of being another success, it will simply be another game sacrificed on the alter of corporate Greed and marketing incompetency.
In effect it’s a exact catch-22: one needs a new and powerful computer to run this game properly – but who would want to gum up his new computer with SecuROM drivers that will keep for ever running masked in the social class and irremovable folders?
AVOID.

Imersive and addicting gameplay. Bit of a steep learning curve but there are several excellent web sites / forums that get into all of the nuts and bolts…
Been playing (release player patched to v2.4.3) for about a month and havn’t hit any bugs or crashes, so looks like most of the bugs have been worked out.
