Rise of Flight: The First Great Air War
- Historical references and modern computer graphics were combined to render 125,000 square kilometers of French countryside that is disfigured by a terribly cratered battlefield. Fluffy clouds fill the sky which you can glide into for cover.
- Rain and fog are also modeled in realistic detail making flying even more of a challenge as water drops cover your windscreen or goggles. Advanced graphics featuring moving shadows, depth of field, light bloom and reflections.
- Glide several Release-Player combat missions against a computer opponent. If you feel you have mastered the art of aerial combat you can go aboard on a Pilot Career and glide a historically accurate Campaign for the French, British, German or American air forces.
- Also included is a very powerful Mission Editor that allows players to design custom missions. The Mission Editor is included on the disk and is accompanied by 150 page instruction guide! There will never be a shortage of missions to glide.
- So rush! Grab your goggles and silk scarf. Enemy airplanes are approaching. Who will emerge as the next Baron von Richtoven or Eddie Rickenbacker? Is it you?
Product Description
The year 1917 and all is not silent on the Western Front… high above the trenches and scarred No Man’s Land the sound of piston engines can be heard, the prattle of machine guns fill the air and the bark of flak bursts echo across the countryside. During the First World War a new breed of warrior emerged, reminiscent of the Knights of ancient, inspired by chivalry and hard-pressed to their limits by modern technology, they fought a new kind of war… an air war. Welcome to Rise of Flight: The First Splendid Air War. In flying machines invented just a few years before, young, courageous and daring fighter pilots took to the skies to fight for their country’s cause. In airplanes made of mostly wood and canvas they climbed, dived, spiraled and sacrificed their lives. The average pilot lasted just 17 missions and if you were hit there was no parachute to rescue you. Death could come at any time and from any management, only the best survived. Rise of Flight puts you in the cockpit, in the sky and in the fight. Do you have what it takes to survive? Can you make a difference in the war? Can you become an Ace Fighter Pilot? Rise of Flight from Russian developer neoqb is a state-of-the-art PC flight simulation title that sets a new standard in fidelity, beauty and realism. You can glide either the agile Spad XIII or the deadly Fokker D. VII into aerial combat. Rise of Flight features an advanced flight model that simulates the unique handling characteristics of WWI biplanes. Spins, stalls, loops, takeoffs and landings are all accurately modeled. A complex physics model tracks the trajectory of every bullet and shell fragment. The detailed hurt model leaves no room for error. Stay in the line of fire too long and you’ll lose a wing or a tail, land too hard and the vertebrae of your plane will crack.

I had been looking forward to this game’s release for some time, since I am a WWI airwar enthusiast. I even bought a groundbreaking new computer with the fastest processor, as well as Norton Gaming Anti-Virus, hoping to eliminate any problems. Nevertheless, this simulator plays very poorly, even on a first-rate computer, with normal crashing and jerky movement. I returned the game with my computer for adjustment at least three times, and the techs (who are avid gamers) were not able to fix the many problems. To make matters worse, the manufacturer does not grant buyer support of any kind. I finished up wasting two weeks trying to get this confunded thing effective. A word to the wise: stay away from this one at all costs!
P.S. After countless hours and many trips back to the computer store I finally got the game running smoothly. But then came the recent “updates”, and now I am back at sea (I have Outlook SP1). My throttle doesn’t work now (Microsoft Force Pointer II), and the game is not as charming. So I guess it’s back to the shop when I have time to spare. So you see, for me, this game IS a monumental frustration. (I would change my star rating from one to two or three if it were possible.) Maybe I should have waited six months or so before purchasing, as there seem to be a excellent many bugs in this new game.

Yes you have to log in am have a net connection to play, but you also have to have for any steam game. This is a Splendid looking game, that has set the bar high in flight sim. the Flight modeling is the best I have seen from them. Better then FSX and X-plane combined, plus you can dog fight. the UI is a small to get use to and you have to setup the joystick and graphics on the out. But it was not a conundrum for me like others I have played many sports meeting that had you set the setting on the out of the program.
I can not wait to buy planes and missions and Campinas for it when they place out more make pleased after July 7th. That is what you need the connection for to get more just like Steam or Xbox live. I like the concept and this keep the game for just being a second rate sim game in the ten dollar bin. It is once past the small things it is by fare the best sim to come out next to DCS: Black Shark, And it is a Splendid WWI sim, no other like it.

This game is one of the worst exceuted flight simulations ever. First of all, the game is way too complex to run efficiently on anything but the most robust gaming PC’s. Second of all, the flight model is so choppy you cannot hit the side of a barn without flying into it.
Finally, some one should check the intellectual property rights, beause it this game seems to be a complete copy of Red Baron from the late 80’s.
Save your cash and buy something else.

ok all of you flight sims buffs , if you have il 2 , il2 sturmovic , rise of flight . do not and i do again do not upgrade to windows 7 . I upgraded to windows 7 and then after not being able to use my favorite flight sims , even up graded to windows 7 qualified as it has some xp features . the only flight sims that work and i own most of them all as i really do glide planes as a leisure activity , are the microsoft flight sims one 2 and 3 combat flight sims , but of course they do not compare to il2 . but if you are runing a splendid gaming card with 2 gigs of memory . rise of flight should work fine . do not install windows 7 as it is impossible to uninstall .christian j Nielsen ridge ny

You can tell straight away this is a splendid combat flight sim…the potential for the future seems limitless. I received mine after pre-ordering it and have been enjoying it ever since. Like all new sports meeting there are a few bugs and areas that need to be refined yet, but I like most reasonable gamers expected that. What is exceptionally nice is that you have developers who are going to be continuing to work and further develop this game making it better and better as time goes by.
I just wanted to thank Neoqb for a splendid game, and I am truly looking to the future with a lot of hope for this WWI Combat Flight Sim. I reflect a whole community will grow around it. It has a lot of people excited. One place that you can go for the latest on the game is the SimHQ website.
This is now the definitive WWI Combat Flight Sim.
