This game is addictive! You will like playing this game! The realism is splendid, and you can really presume what it must have been like way-back-when. Well worth it!

I was hoping for a excellent exploration game with small shoot’em ups and more discovery and learning. Instead, here is a game that hopes you will buy the hint book. I did not get very far because I am not excellent at puzzles. I was greatly dissappointed.
(…)Jesus was Jewish, he was raised three years in Egypt and there is no conundrum with singing the joy that inspires your life and saves your soul. But, that is no excuse for a poorly executed CD-ROM.

Will only work for Grown-up MacIntosh systems. WIll not work for versions 10 or higher. No patch by manufacture. When bought it claimed to work with all version for Apple.

I LOVE adventure sports meeting of this genre, but I found this game lightweight when compared to the likes of Myst, Riven and Exile. The puzzles were simple. The only difficulty came in finding a few critical items that were WELL hidden.
(TINY HINT BELOW– NO SPOILER)
Look in EVERY dark spot.
The end game is a letdown. It felt unfinished, somehow.

i seem to have a rebellious opinion, but i really liked this. the puzzles were engaging, but not too hard (i didnt need a walkthrough). the game progressed at a rate such that i didnt get bogged down. the scenery was pretty, with lots of places to explore. examples are the temples off the queens chambers and the sea with several ruins surrounding it. most of the puzzles can be solved by finding the answer after careful exploration (like the alligator room); no mental revelations are necessary. it is possible to die, so save often. after a while, the player will recognize the danger spots. there is a moderately hard maze whose passageways dont make sense, but it is still negotiable.
problems include jamming, mainly around the tape recorder, and a very obstinate padlock. the jamming can be defeated by turning off the ATIs in the extensions manager, but this requires restarting your computer each time you play or go back to other applications. once these are off, though, the game runs very smoothly. some places can be a small dull, like the endless tunnel and the splendid sand transfer, but generally things go by the side of smartly. also, the music was excellent. generally, i dont notice game music, but i did with this one.
there have been remarks about religious undertones of this game. i really reflect that this is reading too much into it; it is just a computer game. the satisfaction comes from finally getting that door to open and not from some religious epiphany. in all, i consider rots to be a worthy effort and an entertaining puzzle (adventure) game. its sequel is coming out for windows, and i hope its available for mac.
