I’ve played as many car simulations as I can and this is one of those simulations that is very accurate, but still has some minor flaws. To prove that that car was moving right, my brain would get confused as to the fact that I was watching a game. I loved to watch the replays to see the car go in a realistic manner. I would be more able to judge the game, if I have had experience in a revive car on gravel tracks, but going from the experience of watching rallys, Richard Burn’s Revive is pretty close.
If you don’t know how to guide a regular car in extreme situations such as when the car looses grip during snowy or rainy weather or do not plot to practice a lot, this game is not for you. In addition, this game should be played with a force pointer steering wheel, sequential shifter and pedals and only that. It’s too hard with a game pad and keyboard. The experience is not as fulfilling without the proper equipment. I recommend the Logitech harvest or the new Act Labs wheels, pedals and shifter that are coming out later in 2006.
I wish that more cars were included, but it’s probably because of the accuracy of the game, that the cars took a long time to set up properly.
The Revive School part of the game is not hard at all for anyone who has played many car simulations. For a player new to this game, it might be very hard. Just keep in mind, that this game is very hard for anyone used to arcade sports meeting, especially when the hurt is set to realistic. Get plenty of sleep and be ready to focus before driving.
The future looks bright for car simulations. With the computing potential going up, more car simulations will continue to blur the line of reality by simulating the many parts of a car and the many factors that affect it.

This game is a small ancient and not supported by the publisher. But there is splendid commuity support. Just check out some of the sim racing sites lots of mods and patches to be had. The sim racing tv site tariff this game as the benchmark that newer sports meeting are compared to. Remember this is a racing simulation and not an arcade game, the car physics are realistic and the graphics very excellent and lots new cars and courses available as mods.

Richard Burns Revive is, in my opinion, one of the best racing simulators of all time; if not *the* best racing sim ever. The physics are absolutely unparalleled; they manage to capture the nuances of hurtling a 2800lb hunk of Aluminum and Steel down some of the most treacherous and compromising roads in the world. Surfaces vary from groomed tarmac, to dirt, gravel, mud and snow – owing to all the locales that the WRC runs competitions at world-wide. A wide variety of vehicles from varying revive teams are represented: Subaru, Mitsubishi, Citroen, Peugeot, Hyundai and Ford, each with a very realistic hurt model – glass will break, doors and other body parts will dent, buckle and eventually glide off, and various mechanical components such as engine, cooling systems and transmissions will become hurt and eventually fail if you continue to crash your car.
You start out you virtual career by completing the revive school, which gives absolutely vital tips and techniques necessary to guide these cars in such pitiless conditions – everyone from experienced person sim racers to the fledgling newbie will find regard in completing it. As you complete the school tests, you unlock new racing venues, new cars, and career challenges, ranging from release course time trials to a full season career mode. Full weather and night-time racing is also part of the deal – something very few other sims offer. To top it all off, RBR has a plethora of 3rd-party mods, from new tracks/venues to new vehicles and a huge online competition/racing scene.
I certainly recommend having a high quality force-pointer wheel to get everything out of this simulator (I’m loathe to call it a “game”) but system supplies are pretty light based upon the age of the title. Which brings me to the graphics: yes, they are somewhat dated, and won’t hold a candle to newer titles like Dirt 2, but the simulation aspect is so well done it hardly matters. If you’re looking for something fun to sit down and play for a few minutes, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. For a hardcore revive/racing fan who’s looking for the ultimate realistic challenge, you really cannot do better than Ricard Burns Revive.

This game is outstanding, I like the simulation type driving, mixed with incredible sound, graphics. I’ve played both Dirt and Forza II and I still much prefer this game, I hope there is some sort of sequel or another game based off the driving of this game, i plot at some point to get myself the driving wheel to make it an even better experience. BEWARE THAT YOU HAVE AN ADEQUATE GRAPHICS CARD I COULDNT PLAY IT TILL I GOT MY LAPTOP

by far the most realistic racing game ive ever played… and for that, i like it… i believe most people would dislike this game because you simply cant floor it and go.. its like driving a real car.. splendid game though and it has some pretty incredible driving training..
