I really wanted to like this keyboard. Shipping was, as normal, quick. Opened the box, it was a work of art, the keys were rubberized, very nice…Loaded the software, then installed the keyboard. Nice blue, I was looking forward to programing some macros. Instead, I found out to my horror that anti-ghosting (at least on this keyboard) meant that the keys did not work!! All of the keys that were labeled as “Anti-ghosting” were non-functional. Contacted razer, to their credit I spar with a human, and they ran owing to the gambit of possibilities. (BTW I did try 2 other computers and got the same result) In the end the service guy said that it was a terrible penetrate and I should return it (which I did).
What troubles me about this keyboard, is that in all my years of using computers, I have worn out keyboards but I have never had a keyboard that failed to function right out of the box.

…pretty to look at, but not really useful.
PROS:
*Nice black affect
*Rubberized keys feel and sound splendid
*Is klutz proof. (I spilled my Jack & coke on the keyboard, took it apart to find a wonderful rubber pad preventing the mix from hitting the circuitry, keyboard works like new to this day)
*Blue LED is nice…ish
*It was a splendid thought.
CONS:
*Rubber varnish comes off keys easily
*Touchpad rarely works, nearly never compatible with Windows Media Player like advertised
*LED’s are dim as all hell
*I often lose key repetition, (holding W should get you ‘wwwwwwww’, but sometimes will only get you ‘w’) (I found that this has something to do with the caps lock button, dunno enough about the circuitry/programming to say why, fiddling with caps usually gets my functions back)
*Far too expensive for such a piece of crap
*It works better without the Razer drivers (as a basic PnP keyboard)
*Next to no customer service
*Substandard construction
After getting the keyboard, the Lycosa mouse and the Barracuda headset, and the Mantis speedpad I can certainly say that Razer is a dissipate of cash. The mouse and the giant mousepad are splendid, and have never given me any problems. The headset literally snapped in half the 2nd time I tried to use it, looked as if the arm holding the earpieces together was made of PEWTER, no word of a lie. Looks like I’m going back to Logitech….

I read all the reviews about this keyboard before deciding on it. I got it because it would basically look nice with my other hardware and because it did have some other features i liked. One thing i dont see being mentioned on here is the really small pegs it stands on. As mentioned by someone else the keys are backlit but hard to see from certain angles. If it stood at a higher angle i reflect it would help a lot with that.
It’s not a terrible keyboard but it’s really not anything special. The keys are nice to type on and the touch pad media device is fascinating. I’m sure their are better keyboards for the price , the Lycosa in my opinion was designed to just mainly sit there and look pretty.

Keyboard looks nice, and has a slim design. The deal breaker for me was that the USB port doesn’t support the 2.0 standard, so the latest, fastest USB thumb drives won’t work, in addition to slower downloads for anything USB. The keyboard uses two USB slots so make sure you have adequate ports. Also, the lights lose about half of their brightness when viewed from an angle, so unless the keyboard is directly under your eyes, the blue keys look blurry, and not like the picture. The keyboard is also all black when the potential is off, or the lights are turned off, so you need to keep the lights on all the time, unless you have every key memorized, thats a personal thing, but worth mentioning. The rubber keys are ok, not anything splendid imho. I returned the penetrate, spent the cash on a high end mouse, and kept my original Dell keyboard. Shop wisely.
