Place your angling skills to the test in the best bass locations in North America. Cabela’s Monster Bass puts you in the middle of heart-pounding fishing action as you compete in 20 events to fill your live well with only the largest bass. But time is limited, so don’t be late for the weigh-in!
Cabela’s Monster Bass lets you test your skills on six of America’s greatest fishing lakes, including Lake Wylie, Clear Lake, Lake of the Ozarks, Lake Amistad, Logan Martin Lake, and Lake Okeechobee. You’ll fish for nine species of monster bass, such as large mouth, small mouth, spotted, striped and more. There are also 14 other trophy species, such as trout, salmon, northern pike, catfish and walleye.
Casting the line is initiated by flicking the analog stick or — for less patient players — by inputting specific commands to attract fish. Once a fish starts biting, the fight starts. Following the on-screen visual cues, players must carefully balance reeling in the fish while keeping an eye on the line’s tension so it doesn’t break. Button combinations can also be used to weaken the fish’s resolve, allowing for an simpler catch. As players progress, additional rods, lures, and live bait become available to increase the odds of landing the “huge one.” Other play options include an Open Fishing mode and a Quick Challenge. The former has players fishing on their choice of lakes, while the latter involves racking up high scores in timed events.

You have to use the controller like a fishing rod and use the casting motion to cast the line.
The thought of flipping the control towards my LCD does not appeal to me. I guess you could do the same motion towards a wall by the screen, but the tendency is to cast towards your target on the screen.
Reeling in a fish is a pain. This game is just not that much fun for the wear and tear it produces on the equipment and potential hurt to a $1500 TV.

I am a huge fan of fishing sports meeting but this one really disappointed me. I paid full price for the thing only to bring it back a few days later and get virtually not anything for it. If you are into arcade type fishing sports meeting that are not realistic then you will delight in this one. I thought this game was going to be like Rapala on the ps2 but it’s not. I loved rapala on the ps2 tremendously, but this new ps3 title failed IMO. If you want a realistic fishing title, then avoid this one. The graphics were splendid though and the fish looked very cool but the gameplay is horrid. I gave it a 2 for fun, and 3 for graphics.

El juego es muy bueno, pero debes de tener un gusto para los juegos de pesca para poder entenderlo, pero es un gran simulador

I really delight in this game. I like to fish but I haven’t been in quite awhile. This game is nearly more fun than real fishing.

I bought this game for my 6 year ancient nephew, who’s really gotten into fishing over the past couple years, but usually only gets to fish when they visit grandma and grandpa over the summer. The fishing part itself is designed pretty well. My nephew was catching 29″ large-mouth bass within an hour. So it must be honestly unadorned to pick up. Considering the lakes in this game are apparently only filled with large sized fish, he might be disappointed when it comes to doing the real thing again next summer. So far, we’ve only been able to fish two of the featured lakes. The others are locked for some reason, I’ve yet to learn. I guess that’s how you progress to new levels. Some of the controlls could be more intuitive, and the way the game loads is a bit perplexing even for adults, asking about saved sports meeting, the very first time the disc loads?? The graphics are rather poor – definately, not up to HD quality. But, I’ll skip further criticism, as while I reflect the only reason this game tariff as high as it does is because it has virtually no competition, my nephew absolutely loved it. Like actual fishing itself, you could hardly pull him away from it.
