Raiden 3? Sorry, but this game needs to change its name to something else. Raiden is much more than this. For you raiden lovers out there that have loved raiden since the beginning, this one is a huge let down in my opinion.
I bought it for $6.50 total including shipping and was very nervous to get it and try it out. To my dismay, after playing it a mere hour, I was bored out of my mind, to the point where I don’t even want to play it anymore. So what is it lacking? EVERYTHING THAT MADE RAIDEN…RAIDEN.
1. What happened to the plasma gun?!?!? That was my favorite type of gun ever. It was awesome to look at especially when it curves and twirls itself around the screen zapping ur enemies to nothingness! Now you’re stuck with 3 types of main weapons…a laser that can go only left and right, one that can’t, and the default vulcan shot aka spread shot.
Clarification to the ppl that made this: If you can’t do something right don’t do it at all, all you’ve done is disgrace the RAIDEN name. Like Disney trying to make part 2s and 3s for their classic disney movies. If you are a TRUE raiden fan, you’d know.
2. We all know its a 2D plane shooter, but Raiden was much more. Raiden 3 lacked the suspense and the awesome feel of things blowing up. Everything felt dry and lacking. In grown-up versions, when the masters came in, you KNEW they were the masters because of how suspenseful it became and how everything was set up. Now, they just zoom in just like any other fighter and the only thing that makes you realize that they are the masters is because there’s more bullets coming out from them and they last longer. Fighting the masters isn’t fun anymore.
3. I hope the makers realize that game designing/graphics has far improved itself. If they were going to release raiden 3 on PS2, at least utilize its full potential better. Raiden 3 does not deserve to be on the ps2 because it doesn’t even need a ps2 to run the kind of graphics that it has.
4. Ever heard of trying to be unique? I know the developers wanted to stay with raiden, but not only did they fail in that, they didn’t add anything new to it. Sure the 3d envorinment was nice, but the game play is MUCH MUCH MORE IMPORTANT. Give us some more DIFFERENT types of weapons to play with? Some more enemies to ruin? What raiden lacks is approach because most of the enemies you just shoot and no matter what angle you shoot them, you’ll get them. Huge potential, but unfortunately it died at the hands of a bunch of ppl that don’t really know what Raiden is really about. At LEAST make the weapons look a lot cooler, not just sort of cooler.
If you bought this game for anymore than $10…I reflect you got ripped off. I bought it for $6.50 and I felt like getting ripped off.
The makers concentrated on the incorrect aspects of the game. It’s like TRANSFORMERS. The graphics were sure awesome but the acting was horrific. Oh well, ppl are sure gullible. If doomsday comes, I would say “excellent riddens”.

Now when you hear a person say , “Man! I wish some of those ancient splendid classic game’s of the past could be given a 21st century makeover on our newer systems.” Well that’s exactly what you have here folks.
Longtime fans will have a blast rediscovering the splendid time they had in the arcade with the new look and enhanced graphics , which may I say are very , very cool , while maintaining the look and feel of the original. Newer kids learning Raiden today will delight in the shoot’em up fun of retro yesteryear.
The Game’s onscreen Show come’s in 4 different options: The classic look of the original arcade version / a slighty wider-enhanced version / and two fuller screen option’s , which came as a nice small bonus. So if you can find this game for under $15 , then it’s a no-brainer.

I do like this game.
The only thing I dislike about it is its narrow screen.
I have a widescreen tv and this game doesn’t make the best of it.
But, I hope its sequence or other game like it comes to PS3 and XBOX 360.
