Like some other people, when I first bought this game I only played it for maybe a few hours, place it down, and didn’t reflect I was ever going to play it again. I didn’t like how I had to buy my recruits, and thought it was too hard to earn any cash to in fact buy these troops. I didn’t know why I could suddenly attack at times, and I barely understood why I won or lost battles. Navigating owing to the menu’s was a complete mess IMO, the artwork was bland, the tale was completely generic and lame. . . hell I was lost even with the tutorials. I had never played Puzzle Quest either because when I selected this game up that was the game I in fact thought i was buying! Meaning, the puzzle game that got all the rave reviews.
Now, unevenly 18 months has passed and I chose to give Puzzle Kingdoms another go. I poured tons of hours into Puzzle Quest and wanted to change things up a bit and figured it was time to give this game another shot. With some patience and downright luck, I am now hopelessly addicted to this game. Now that I know how to play Puzzle Kingdoms, and have come to know that the solid mechanics of the puzzle design, I cannot place it down.
When I say luck played a part in this, at one point in starting my new adventure I accidentally clicked onto one of the gray looking type rock buildings, only to find that I had to kill a dragon of sorts. Once I ruined the creature, I was rewarded handsomely and thought to myself “OH, now THAT’s how earn real cash is this game.” If I would have stumbled upon this in the beginning, or have understood how to set my characters up to attack (which I learned with patience and trial and error), I probably wouldn’t have been so quick to judge this game.
Now, I like trying out different combinations of troops, as well as recruiting new troops with the added mini sports meeting they place into the adventure. Clearing the penetrate/destroying “the box” is also so much fun, and a welcomed twist to the original game mechanics.
To place it simply, this game rocks, as does the sound and music accompanying it. While the graphics are downright horrible, the tale meaningless, the interface un-friendly, it’s not enough to ruin the game by any means.

By and large I just didn’t reflect it gave much variety. I found a unadorned approach on my third kingdom that I used all the way owing to the rest of the game. I completed the entire game and only lost one battle early on…
Puzzle Quest was so excellent, this game just felt like a bust. Hopefully they do better next time.

Puzzle Quest was an incredible game. I got Puzzle Quest 2 (Galactrix) but it wasn’t quite as much fun. Puzzle Kingdoms has been more fun than Puzzle Quest 2 but not as much as Puzzle Quest 1. Some of the tale elements are the same, but the game mechanics are different from the Bejeweled roots that were so fun. I’ve only played for about 20 hours, and there’s a lot more difficulty (with setting up multiple heroes, teams, relics, spells, items, etc.) — it’s not clear if it will pay off later.
If you were hooked on Puzzle Quest and are looking for a similar game, it’s worth a look. But don’t expect the same magic that the original Puzzle Quest had.

My wife and daughter bought a Nintendo DSi for me on Member of the clergy’s Day. They also bought 3 sports meeting to go with it. One of these was Puzzle Kingdoms. Glad I played this one last, because I wouldn’t have touched the other 3 sports meeting after playing it! I haven’t played any other DS game than this one in a few weeks now as I am completely addicted to Puzzle Kingdoms.

I am in like with this game!!! After beating Puzzle Quest, I was keenly looking for the next puzzle game. I searched on the internet and found out about Galactrix. But I read all of the unenthusiastic reviews and stayed away from it. I found this one in the store and took a chance on it. Boy oh Boy I can honestly say I am impressed. It even has a few familiar characters from the first Puzzle Quest. The goal of both sports meeting is very similar. But the Storyline is different. It is very involving. The storyline is a bit more linear than Puzzle Quest. After you conquer a kingdom, there are only a few places to go. The minigames are cool and cause you to run out of Gold before you know it. I will say one thing, this game is a bit simpler ro play than Puzzle Quest. It seems more equally biased. The first game seemed as though it was constantly biased toward the computer. This one seems more balanced. I’m not done with the game yet, but I haven’t been able to place it down. I completely recommend this game. It’s only $20 and it will keep you entertained for days.
