This game is so terrible, it hurts. All you do is pop puyos, (no matter what those are), it has terrible release player but excellent multiplayer. Don’t buy it, it is not excellent.

Well, I’ve been a fan of the Puyo Puyo series since the Game Boy Advance (which isn’t really all that long ago), but I was so hooked on the game from that system that I bought the Japanese version right when it came out for the DS. I racked up some pretty high scores just like before and the game’s interests holds up for about six months or so, I’d say. The object of the game is to basically link three like colored Puyo or gel balls together so that they dissapear, but the pace and combinations of Puyo falling down are a bit mind-boggling, especially at first. But as you get used to the game, scores can become very high and you get a rush from making chains and getting into Fever Mode, where you get rid of Puyo very quickly. Not for the faint of heart, though a puzzle game, this is pretty quick-paced and intense. This is one of Yuji Naka’s creations from Sonic Team, so of course it’s top quality and quirky as usual.

This game, I like it!!! It’s so much fun. Although, I prefer Kirby’s Avalanche for Super Nintendo, the ancient version, but this one is pretty excellent too. The game mode that I like the most, is to play against 4 other players it can be the CPU or your friends. The release player mode, I don’t like very much. The character that I like is the Cat, A hidden character, you get it after you fight in Run Run course. There is another hidden player, a stupid bunny, who can only say Ta Ta!! hahahah really amusing

If you like the series, then you’ve more than likely been waiting for a new addition and this fits in perfectly. Quite simply It’s puyo pop at it’s best with the inclusion of an all new Fever mode and up to 8 player mayhem. Don’t agonize if you don’t have 7 other people to play with.. the CPU can fill in any empty spots.
Don’t hesitate if your thinking about a new DS sports meeting, this is among the best.

Puyo Pop Fever is a decent puzzle game.
It uses the same basic premise of other puyo puyo sports meeting. American Audiences would be more familiar with Kirby’s Avalanche and Dr Robotnicks Mean Bean Machine, from the SNES and Genesis respectively.
The object is unadorned. Match groups of 4 or more of the same affect puyo blob to make them disappear. If making a group disappear causes others to form into groups, you get chains. Larger chains reap splendid rewards. It’s a competitive puzzle game in which when one player gets a chain, it dumps garbage puyos on the opponent. Garbage puyos are dispatched when they are adjacent to disappearing puyos. But, a lot of them can really mess you up.
This game adds a new feature called fever. Clear enough puyos and you go into fever mode. Fever Mode allows you to get tons of super simple combos and dump tons of garbage puyos on your opponent. I found this feature to be a terrible edition, as a Fever usually resulted in the immediate end of a match. It can make some matches too simple, and conversely, some too hard.
Still, there is a classic mode, though tale mode must be played with Fever on. Still, it’s the only puyo game for the DS, and the Puyo sports meeting are addicting and a splendid time killer.
The artwork and feel of the game can be pretty offputting for anyone other than small girls but.
