Remote does what is advertised, is a learning remote. My peeve is that it is not backlighted and the buttons are so small. I had to go back to my ancient remotes because my wife couldn’t get the hang of it

The Blu-Link does what it’s supposed to do most of the time, but if you leave it set to the PS3 button (on) during a DVD Movie, at the end of the movie it loses it’s blutooth connection and you cannot turn the PS3 off by the remote. I’ve found that if you use the remote to start the movie and then press another accessory button (Tuner, TV, etc.) so that the blue light is not flashing all the time, then it operates the PS3 as it should. Very frustrating at first! The remote needs a “light” mode as the buttons are so small, that it is hard to see them except in excellent light. It controls a lot of electronics, but after learning the buttons on the other remotes, it’s hard to remember what each one does, so it is not used as much as I’d like. This would be a splendid remote if it was twice as huge with larger buttons, and backlit. Bring shame on on Sony for making a need for something like this!

For $50 this remote is acceptable. The learning function is splendid and the controller’s layout is excellent and simple to learn. There are many downsides to the remote, but. My major quips are:
-There is about a one second delay from the time a button is hard-pressed to the time your device receives the indicate. While one second may not sound too terrible, it gets incredibly tedious when trying to surf channels or change a device’s settings (among other things).
-When using the remote for the PS3, the PS3 device button (top center of the remote) blinks and gets very distracting. This is simple to fix, right? Just flip the remote over. It turns out if the remote sits idle while in PS3 function for too long the remote will no longer work until you restart your PS3 and wait a few minutes.
-The buttons are not backlit. This is not a huge deal for some (myself included), but if you plot on watching movies in the dark it can be frustrating.
Only recommended if you can no longer stand to juggle multiple remotes and the other universal remote controls are too expensive for you.

I bought this remote so I would no longer have to fumble around with 4 remotes/controllers to work my TV, TiVo, stereo, and PS3. It works well with my Samsung HDTV and the PS3 but it sorta works with my TiVo and stereo. When I place in one certain code for my stereo it will turn it on but not off and just the contrary with another code. And with the TiVo it will reverse, quick forward, and pause, but it wont go to the TiVo menu or change channels. When I was using it for my TiVo remote the only button that would change the channel was the Square button for PS3 and Circle would go to the previous channel. I hope there is something they can do to fix these problems.

I bought this remote from Amazon and immediately was impressed with it’s ability to (in theory) control pretty much everything I have. Unfortunately, I quickly ran into a conundrum having the remote “learn” new remote functions directly from the original remotes. None of the supplied codes worked for my Pioneer Plasma TV, my Oppo blu-ray player, my Dish Network HD DVR, or my Logitech Transporter media server. In other words, none of the pre-supplied codes worked for any of these (honestly common) devices, so I was mandatory to “teach” the remote new functions, button by button, using the orignal remotes.
Now, initially this worked splendid! But, by about the third remote the blu-link unit refused to learn any more codes. I would do a factory reset and start over starting with the remotes in a different order…again, there seems to be a limit to how many buttons it would learn before refusing to learn more. Reading now owing to a prior reviewer’s experience, it seems the remote only can store 50 new codes into its memory. That’s simply not enough when the supplied presets are effectively useless.
But that in itself would cause me to give the remote maybe 3 stars, because it is still unique in what it does (PS3 and other devices). But it gets 1 start from me due to the poor customer service. When I called to inquire why the remote was no longer learning codes, I got a voicemail: “Please leave a message and we will call you back.” What?? So I left a message, no response in a couple days, left another message, no response again. Sent two emails to customer support, not a release comeback!
So I will be returning this remote as it’s unusable for me given the limited codes it can store. Be forewarned about non-existent support currently for this product from the manufacturer. I am surprised as prior reviews have mentioned brilliant support. Perhaps they are on vacation?
