Pokémon Sapphire’s updated graphics with weather effects, incredible sound, more than 200 Pokémon with over 100 new species–as well as its faithful adherence to the existing series of Pokémon sports meeting–makes for a welcome evolution in the series.
First, the game has a lot in common with Pokémon sports meeting Silver, Gold, and Crystal. For example, players can choose to be a boy or a girl trainer, an internal timer sets events at certain times, and the game’s handy-dandy Pokédex helps players keep track of the many stats. You’re main goal is still to beat all the Gym Trainers and become the Pokémon Master. If you’ve played the ancient sports meeting, you will be right at home. But not all is the same.
The most obvious change is in the battles themselves. Now that two Pokémon can fight on your side at the same time, you can tag-team them against an enemy by taking advantage of the strengths of your Pokémons while covering their weaknesses. For example, you can now have a water Pokémon watch your fire Pokémon’s back. You can also attack more than one Pokémon at a time.
A whole new element to the game focuses on how berries are used in battle. And if you collect enough berries, you can take them to a Berry Blender and make a PokéBlock, which is a small super-charged sweetie that raises your Pokémon’s “Condition” attributes. You can then groom your Pokémon for regional contests and compete for ribbons like “Best of Show,” which will unlock additional contests. There’s even approach in how to best use your berries: pick too many and the berry tree will disappear; plant berries, though, and a tree will grow. You can also build a Secret Base in special areas of the game, which you can decorate just like you can your room.
And let us not forget that Pokémon Sapphire has a kickin’ multiplayer system, too. You can trade Pokémon, and link up to four players for incredible battles. The only downside is that you can’t link up with the ancient Game Boy Affect sports meeting. –Bryan Karsh
Pros:
- You can control two Pokémon in battle
- Much needed graphic and sound facelift
- Nice multiplayer feature (requires link cable and extra game cartridge)
Cons:
- Can’t trade Pokémon with Game Boy Affect

I used to be very much into Pokemon but now that i’m a lot grown-up I realize it is just a game for small kids. I’ll admit that the ancient sports meeting were pretty fun… When I was younger! I’m not trying to dis Pokemon for the grown-up people but seriously, come on guys, leave Pokemon and go get some real RPG. The graphics on this suck. Just go play some Golden Sun or like the new one! Even Yu-Gi-Oh! is a small intimidating. Again, I’m not trying to make fun of it but its just horrible…

First lets get things straight, I’m just trying to help and have not anything against Pokemon:
The graphics are really terrible for GBA.
I would recommend for 10 and not more than but everyone grown-up than that should get something like Golden Sun or Breath of Fire II.
And Pokemon is just a bit too, err juvinile for the elder players.

Enough with the Pokemon stuff already. It’s a fad that died out a few years ago, yet Nintendo’s making a sequel with some of the most dated graphics I’ve ever seen. The series hopes to get young kids into the RPG genre, which is fine, but for them to keep at it this long is abseloutely pathetic. They should have scrapped this scheme and all ears on the new Golden Sun game, an RPG series that’s actualy GOOD and requires DEEP THOUGHT. I doubt anyone over 10 is playing pokemon anymore. But those who are should try to enlarge their intrests. Maybe try a “T” rated RPG and see how much more comlex and fascinating it can be.

Like Pokemon sports meeting, this has the same concept. You run around with miniature animals inside red and white balls. How fun is that?
