Pokemon Ruby Version for GBAAmazon.com
Pokémon Ruby’s updated graphics with weather effects, incredible sound, more than 200 Pokémon with over 100 new species–as well as its faithful adherence to the existing series of Pokémon sports meeting–makes for a welcome evolution in the series.
First, the game has a lot in common with Pokémon sports meeting Silver, Gold, and Crystal. For example, players can choose to be a boy or a girl trainer, an internal timer sets events at certain times, and you’re the game’s handy-dandy Pokédex helps players keep track of the many stats. You’re main goal is still to beat all the Gym Trainers and become the Pokémon Master. If you’ve played the ancient sports meeting, you will be right at home. But not all is the same.
The most obvious change is in the battles themselves. Now that two Pokémon can fight on your side at the same time, you can tag-team them against an enemy by taking advantage of the strengths of your Pokémons while covering their weaknesses. For example, you can now have a water Pokémon watch your fire Pokémon’s back. You can also attack more than one Pokémon at a time.
A whole new element to the game focuses on how berries are used in battle. And if you collect enough berries, you can take them to a Berry Blender and make a PokéBlock, which is a small super-charged sweetie that raises your Pokémon’s “Condition” attributes. You can then groom your Pokémon for regional contests and compete for ribbons like “Best of Show,” which will unlock additional contests. There’s even approach in how to best use your berries: pick too many and the berry tree will disappear; plant berries, though, and a tree will grow. You can also build a Secret Base in special areas of the game, which you can decorate just like you can your room.
And let us not forget that Pokémon Ruby has a kickin’ multiplayer system, too. You can trade Pokémon, and link up to four players for incredible battles. The only downside is that you can’t link up with the ancient Game Boy Affect sports meeting. –Bryan Karsh
Pros:
- You can control two Pokémon in battle
- Much needed graphic and sound facelift
- Nice multiplayer feature (requires link cable and extra game cartridge)
Cons:
- Can’t trade Pokémon with Game Boy Affect

You cannot trade with grown-up versions, Johto and Kanto aren’t in the game and you can only catch about 150 Pokemon between the two sports meeting. Two thumbs down.

As far as I’m concerned, Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire have been in the works for a very long time, but I have got to report the following pros and cons to you. Here they are folks:
Pros:
1. The backgrounds look impressive.
2. More badges and Pokemon to capture in your Poke balls, including the legendary robots like Greudon and Kyogre, and the legendary birds like Latios and Latias.
3. Up to 4 players can play.
Cons:
1. The 2-on-2 battle mode can throw you off course.
2. The characters look terrible.
3. You can’t trade Pokemon between GBC and GBA, which means, you’ll have to redo your whole team from scratch. Ouchichi!
4. The price is way off course.
5. Why would the whole Pokemon saga want to go on like this?
Even though the total number of Pokemon is 351, buying all of these accessories and mastering the rest of Pokemon will become an impossibility! Beware! You’ll need 2 GBAs, Ruby+Sapphire, and a link cable to complete mission 3. Excellent luck!
