Pokémon 101
What are Pokémon? Pokémon come I all shapes and sizes. Each Pokémon has one or two types of moves (such as Grass, Fire or Water) which it uses in battle. Pokémon also develop their own personalities, likes and dislikes – just like humans do. Pokémon and humans have learned to live and work together in harmony to make a better life for all.
Pokémon grow and evolve in different ways. When Pokémon travel with a Pokémon trainer, they gain experience from battling other Pokémon and other trainers. Pokémon can also gain experience by staying at the Pokémon daycare, but not anything beats first-hand battle experience. All Pokémon have one or two innate element types. Pokémon types reflect the strengths and weaknesses as well as the environments they originated from. For example Fire-type Pokémon are often found near hot environments, excel in fire-type moves and are weak against Water-type moves. If you know what type of Pokémon your opponent is using, it is usually a excellent approach to use the opposing type. Gym leaders and trainers always use one or two Pokémon types. Like most creatures, Pokémon live in environments suited to their needs. A skilled Pokémon trainer will search everywhere for Pokémon and learn where to find different types. Some Pokémon are more elusive than others. You will need key items such as a fishing pole to catch some Pokémon.
Starting out in the game you find yourself transformed into a Pokémon! After taking a Pokémon personality test the form of your Pokémon will be revealed. Washed ashore on the beach a fellow Pokémon is beside you asking for your help in finding lost treasure. You can form rescue teams to learn the mystery around your transformation as you hunt for lost treasure by the side of the way. I have a 6 year ancient who kept asking for Pokemon and I did’nt know which one to pick. Well as odds would have it I selected the incorrect one. There was too much tale and reading. Although my son can read, this was over the top. Would not recommend it until about age 8 or so.

My son, 7, really wanted the new Pokemon game. So he used his birthday cash and bought it. Unfortunately, ever since he’s gotten it, he’s been very frustrated with the amount of reading there is to play the game. Unless your outcome is a strong reader be prepared to play with them! Maybe better suited for grown-up children.

The tale is written well, although obviously meant for a slightly younger crowd than my late twenties. The art is crisp and adorable, and I like how we get to see the Pokemon in closeups–seeing their expressions helps draw you in. I also liked how you had to answer questions to see what Pokemon you would end up becoming. But I didn’t really see the whole point of the “analyzing your aura” segment, and it was hard for me to figure out what to do at that part. You can choose which Pokemon you want to be your partner, and there are a lot of excellent choices. I recommend trying to find one that is a really different type than you are, just to cover as many bases as possible. For example, if you end up as Mudkip or Pikachu, I would recommend picking Torchic or Chikorita. But you can of course make your own decisions.
As far as the fighting goes, it is NOT set up like other Pokemon sports meeting. It is still turn-based, but you don’t get the iconic setup of the other sports meeting or the huge menus–instead, you get text scrolling up and down over the screen, and it moves VERY quick. Basically, all I have time to do really is just hit the A button over and over, pouncing on the enemy. You can still use special attacks, but you don’t really see much of the attack on the screen and the hurt info whizzes by. The battles are generally pretty small. You still level up and learn new things, as does your partner Pokemon. There are a lot of small menus to sift owing to. And the fact that you can carry only one item bugs me, although it makes sense.
In all, I like this game, but I don’t delight in it as much as I thought I would. I still prefer Pokemon Diamond over this one. But, it is still worth the cash, I reflect.

GOT IT FOR MY SON HE SAID IT WAS JUST LIKE THE OTHER POKEMON GAMES HE HAD, NOT THAT MUCH OF A DIFFERNENT SO HE TRADE IT IN FOR CALL DUTY 2 MODERN WAR IF YOU CHILD HAS ONE OR MORE POKEMON MYSTERY DUNGEON GAMES DO NOT GET IT THEY ARE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME GAME.
