I’ve never played with such a clunky, robotic joystick. When moving the joystick in a qcf (quarter circle forward, reflect ken/ryu from SF2) it feels like i can only go the stick in a square. There is no charming or fluid motion with the stick at all.
The buttons are open but that’s about the only excellent thing. The bent layout makes me more likely to hit the incorrect button rather than on a normal arcade where they are just in a line. Half the time, I’m more all ears on trying not to hit the extra two buttons on the side rather than what go I need to do next.

I bought this joystick as I thought it was arcade quality. Instead, it is a light, cheap version or the real thing. The buttons slightly stick, and the joystick broke in about an hour of playing Street Fighter HD Remix online. Thank goodness amazon has a splendid return policy, because this was truly a sorry product.

Splendid quality stick. I take away one star because it’s a square gate, meaning the stick moves in a square motion rather than on octagonal motion. On a side note, to anyone who grew up playing fighting sports meeting on a pad, I do not recommend this item or any other “pro” stick for that matter to transition on. I suggest getting a cheaper stick to learn on cause you may not like it. I am considering selling my stick and getting the fight pad because I cannot pull off the moves as accurately with the stick, not because of its quality, but because I grew up playing on a pad.

I bought this based on Hori’s reputation because some of the fatalities in MK vs DC Universe were next to impossible to pull off with the directional pad. Not a terrible stick for the cash, the buttons feel pretty nice, no complaints there, but the joystick itself is a bit lackluster. I will probably look into upgrading to a Sanwa octaganal bat joystick.

I bought this to get back into the SFIV. The stick feels just like an arcade stick. Best to have a excellent height coffee table to play it on. It kinda works on your lap, but better to have it on a hard surface. One thing to note is that this has a Square gate on the joystick so it’s tough to do half and 1/4 circles. The square gate is japanese stylishness. I went and bought a Sanwa Octagonal Gate and buttons from lizardlick.com. Took 2 months to get the parts (they are getting floods of instructions), but following directions on how to replace the parts, the Octagonal gate is incredible on this stick. That’s my only note is to get the Sanwa Octagonal Gate. If you are going to mod this stick, I suggest you google directions on how to properly open. You’ll need a nice bolt remover tool that can get into hard to reach places.
