Product Description
The original version of Pipe Mania was published by Empire Interactive in 1989 and is one of the most well loved and ported puzzle sports meeting of all time. Phenomenally, the title achieved staggering sales of over 4 million worldwide, making it one the most flourishing puzzle sports meeting ever launched. The simplicity of Pipe Mania makes it a puzzle game that is accessible to all ages. The player must lay down a pre-ordained set of pipes on a tiled grid in order to keep the constantly flowing Flooze moving for as long as possible without it spilling out. It requires quick thinking, hand-eye co-ordination, forward thinking and spatial awareness. This new version builds on the infectious playability of the original but includes expanded game modes, new themes, new play mechanics, and new pieces that will challenge players of all types and ages.

The only game for the Nintendo DS that I could find that was like the original pipes game. Some pieces are hard to decipher just due to the small size of the DS screen. But mostly disappointing because its not as playable, or enjoyable, as the original.
Review Update 11/4/09
After a several days of play I would kmodify my earlier comments: There is a mode called “Classic” that is very much like to original Pipes version. You must unlock it by navigating owing to a few levels of play. I must be getting used to the screen, I don’t find it as irritating as I did originally. Largest complaint is that you can’t save your progress. You must navigate to the level of play you left off at. I reflect a fairer review now would be 3-4 stars.

I like the ancient pc game, and this just doesn’t work quite the same. I didn’t really like it.

This game is exactly what I hoped it would be.
(I had previously played a no-name version of this game)
There is a tale line in the beginning, but I doesn’t interrupt the gameplay.
I like the challenge of fitting the proper pieces in order to build the pipeline within the allotted time.
If you delight in conundrum solving, this is certainly a fun game to play to kill time.

My kids like this as much as I used to like 20 years back.First released in 1989 the basics of the game have changed small.
It introduced a focus on fitting randomly selected pipe pieces together to construct an elaborate, and hopefully high-scoring, pipeline. But it’s the pipes that are really the main attraction. Playing out a small like you’re micro-managing the plumbing of SimCity, the aim is to lay down a pipeline that allows the Flooze to flow unencumbered from its preset start piece to the final preset drain. Keep effective with that Flooze though and you’ll realize a state of plumber’s zen. It’s all about learning to go with the flow, trying to make use of every piece of pipe you’re given. And when it all suddenly slots in to place, the frustration is washed away, revealing a challenging puzzler that provides a decent sense of achievement.Have it on both the PSP and DS for each.

Splendid game. Once you start you can’t place it down. Lot of fun and challenging at times. Lay the pipes down before the ooze leaks out and watch out for the attacks
