The game itself is fun, but a bit too structured, as in….if you dont follow a guide you really cannot realize perfection. You don’t need perfection and can do as you please, but why shoot for mediocre? The game has an exciting tale that instantly drew me in. The fighting is fun and the roaming is decent. The artbook is a nice addition as well as the soundtrack. For the price, this is a must buy.

I bought this game searching for any excellent RPG out of the final fantasy relm and, after several attempts w/ other sports meeting, finally found one. if your a nerd w/ alot of time on ur hands u’ll like this game, but u really need ALOT of time to kill because the battling and leveling up can seem to go on and on forever, and there’s not too much real tale line imbetween, but it still makes for a fun and extremely addictive game. im about 40 hours in right now and only 20 percent owing to i’d guess, there’s a definate timeline in this game as well, which is another plus to it because i’ve never come across a game that in fact paid attention to any time spans before at all. in small, if u like final fantasy and the ancient star ocean 2 for PS1, or the really ancient one for SNES even, u’ll at least like this game.

I thought about buying this game about a year ago, but finally pulled the trigger one weekend in college because of Persona 3’s huge amount of gameplay. 100 hours later, I can certainly say that FES is well worth it’s price.
The Excellent: Half dungeon-crawling, half school/life simulation. Splendid Voice Acting during special cutscenes. Unique battling system. (The Personas and battles reminded me of “adult” PokEmon gameplay) The incredibly huge amount of gameplay is a huge bonus. Intriguing storyline filled with surprising and hilarious dialogue; I found myself laughing out loud quite a bit. I thought that the stylized graphics were pretty excellent for the PS2.
The Terrible: Long waiting periods between Boss battles. Social links require a lot of busy work. The dungeon-crawling can be repetitive.
End Result: I had never played any real RPGs before Persona 3 FES, and I felt FES was simple to learn and loved it thoroughly. Certainly a must-buy if you delight in RPGs, and a splendid buy for people new to the RPG arena(like me).

it’s an awesome battle approach game and rpg and it has a really excellent plot but the fact that the characters get tired annoys me

I would make a strong argument for Persona 3 (or 4…) being the best RPG on the PS2. It is highly addictive, very different in how you level up your “characters”, and every other aspect is just fascinating. I have a save for the main game at over 120 hours and I loved it all the way. You can beat the game in far less time but the last battle will probably be very hard for you…
Anyway, if you like RPGS grab this and the sequel, Persona 4 and never look back =).
