Product Description
THINK EVIL, BREED EVIL, and CONTROL ALL – Overlord: Raising Hell, the groundbreaking Action RPG set in a seriously warped fantasy world, has now arrived to PlayStation 3. With plenty of black humour and dark irony, this game immerses the player in twisted parodies of classic fantasy scenarios and characters. Your word is law as you become the all powerful Overlord, a mysterious figure that has inherited the legacy of the evil after being raised from the dead. The game¿s key innovation is the introduction of an array of impish creatures – the Minions. Accompanied by a horde of these slavishly loyal rascals, the Overlord plays dirty tricks on anything that moves to become even more powerful. The gremlin-like critters will follow your every instruction no matter how despotic or, for the Minions, life threatening it is. The PlayStation 3 version of this game allows you to explore and conquer 5 extra supernatural realms. Defend the Overlord’s tower against waves of enemy attack with seven additional online multiplayer maps, including the competitive ‘Capture the Maiden’ map and ‘Protect Your Potential’. The Challenge Pack also introduces a ‘Legendary’ mode, which challenges you by using your most aggressive favorite managing skills to complete the release-player game under exceptional circumstances. The PlayStation 3 edition includes 7.1 Surround Sound, screen hints, tactics and tips and an onscreen mini-map making it simpler to navigate around the world of the Overlord. Be evil… or really evil with Overlord – it’s time to raise hell.

Before I bought this game I questioned the salesman if it was demonic and he said no, so I went ahead and bought it. That was a huge mistake. As Catholic Christians, my wife and I try to limit unenthusiastic influences on our kids and this game is a unenthusiastic influence. I wouldn’t recomend you play it or let your kids play it. The entire intent of the game is causing evil and at one point you can sacrifice your minions “demons” on alters to gain more evil. This game is very satanic and I will be returning it.
If you are Christian and you don’t want Pagan influences in your home do not buy this game becuase you will regret it. Just giving you a heads up so you don’t make the same mistake I made.

This game resembles Fable in several ways. One being the basic look of the game and the other being how small it is. If anything I would say rent this game if it’s a weekend and you have time to burn rent it and save yourself the near 60$ that you spent on it. Don’t get me incorrect it is fun but there is no replayability on it once you beat it your just done and dont want to do it again.

It doesn’t take much imagination to notice a VAST amount of similarities between this game and the LOTR books/movies. If allowed, I would give this game 4.5 stars due to a couple issues I experienced.
First off, this game; as mentioned by another review, plays alot like Fable….. right down to decisions affecting your outcome (i.e. how evil you are decides on your spells and upgrades available.) There is alot of humor thrown in, some a small on the adult side. Not anything too terrible, but it may be hard to clarify to your outcome why you are suddenly being called the “Lord of Lust and Lechery”. Game play is solid and engaging and the fact that your minions upgrade themselves with no matter what’s lying around makes for some rather entertaining combinations. Graphics are certainly enjoyable to see and frame tariff remain high even with a large horde being sent out to attack. The game CAN get a small aggravating at times, the price I am worried for challenge, but not anything a small patience and practice won’t cure. An by and large hugely satisfying game with a certain replay regard to it.
Now the terrible……
Occasionally you will find yourself accidently sending your minions to their death swithout meaning to since the camera angles can be a tad akward at times. This also plays in to locking on, which can be sometimes be a pain, especially with large groups of baddies to fight.
Flaw two and probably the larger of the two….. I have occasionally had the game freeze on load screens. This is rarely a conundrum as the game typically autosaves before most load screens, but it can be a pain to have to cold shut off your PS3 because not anything responds. I have yet to have it happen anywhere other than load screens and it doesn’t happen much, but should be noted. By and large it hasn’t cost me to lose any major advances……not anything that couldn’t be redone quickly, save for some dungeon progress which WAS kinda frustrating.
By and large a game well worth a look and at 30-40 bucks is a solid addition to any gamers library as there are aspects which should appeal to wide array of gamers. As mentioned before 4.5 stars only for the previously mentioned problems.

over all this was a fun game to play just to dissipate time.graphics are a bit cartoonish, and game play can be a bit slow at times but it killed the time. Oh don’t forget the smart mouthed jester some of the things he says are hillarious!

If you’ve had enough of Lord of the Rings and feel that Sauron should get a chance to win his battle for mastery of Evil over all things excellent give this game a chance. All versions are splendid fun and the minions are cute and hilarious while trying to help the “Master”.
