Gee…I use the headset with the mic for my computer laptop all the time. I thought my daughter would reflect they were the coolest for her Nintendo DS Lite when I got them for her for Christmas. She has stated she will never use them….and has not yet even tried them. I bet they are a super product…but I reflect I in person wasted my cash.

I bought this headset for my children because I have yet to find a pair of ear buds that fit them comfortably. The fact that it had an attatched mic was a plus. The earphones produce splendid stereo sound. Also of splendid importance is the volume control dial, which I set to max after lowering the volume switch on the NDSL itself (that way they can’t accidentally “blow” their eardrums). The mic works well and can be positioned to the wearers liking. They’ve had them for over a year and I was about to buy two more,as gifts, when I read reviews that stated that the headset caused the NDSL’s mic to stop functioning. I used rock, paper, scissors on Brainage 2 to test the performance of the NDSL. With the headset attatched it registered my responses that were spoken into the “mouthpiece” and functions fine. Once I disconnected the headset and tried to play the game using only the mic on the DSL, there wasn’t any recognition of my voice, even at close range. Alas, the mic is shot. I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THIS PRODUCT 5 STARS IF IT DIDN’T DESTROY THE NDSL’s MIC.

Bought for my son’s use. My son is constantly playing his Nintendo DS with the sound up way too loud. Bought so he could loved his game without being questioned to turn the sound down!! A blessing. He enjoys! The headset wires sometimes get in the way, and usually are entangled around the safety belt in the car, or around other objects he is carrying, but work efficiently.

Using this device on my Nintendo DS disabled or otherwise made stop-to-function the external microphone of my DS and even the boom mic failed — in the first 10 minutes of use. I saw this written about in some reviews from 2007 and early 2008, but I had seen several other very clear reviews since then. Here at the end of 2009, I just did not expect there to be a conundrum. I am hoping that Nintendo will repair for free.
I don’t know why some people had excellent experiences and others did not, but if you plug this into your DS, it’s like Russian Roulette.
I potential-cycled. I removed the array and did a full system reset. It didn’t help.
My DS is now deaf. Sports meeting that require voice commands or any audible response from the user are now unplayable.
Do not buy this. Do not plug this into your DS.
