I saw the commercial for this game and chose to get it, but thought about it a small more. My family and I are huge hockey fans, we used to go watch sports meeting from a minor league and just fell in like with the sport of hockey. I chose to remove this game from my wish list because it has too many options, I reflect and I was never a huge fam of the 2K sports. But, I would be willing to play this game any day of the week, especially because it’s on the wii.

I can’t render a review of the game, because the Wii game arrived without a disc inside!! No game to play!! What a rip off!

This game is fun to play if you can get it to do what you want. It only allowed me to pick the opponent’s team rather than my own, impossible to quit go into training and any other menu option to the point where I had to walk away so I wouldn’t snap the disc in half out of frustration. The graphics are crap comparative to other excellent sports sports meeting for wii, I would never recommend anyone to buy this.

Each of the past two years, I’ve bought EA’s NHL release for the X-box 360 (NHL 2008 and NHL 2009). While both sports meeting had a few drawbacks, they were both a lot of fun to play — alone, with friends, and online. By comparison, 2K10 for the Wii is pretty terrible.
The Wii isn’t an HD console, so it wouldn’t really be honest to compare the graphics of this game on the Wii to the graphics of NHL 2009 on the 360; but after playing NHL 2009 on the 360, 2K10 on the Wii is just painful to look at. (I was expecting it to be worse, but I was shocked by how terrible they were.)
While I was expecting inferior graphics, I was also expecting the Wiimote-based controls make up for it. Unfortunately, they haven’t. (Even with the Wii MotionPlus adapter.) Maybe it just takes more than a few sports meeting to get used to, but even something as unadorned as passing the puck can be an infuriating process. (The act of passing isn’t hard, but the act of passing to the player you want to pass to is quite a feat!)
Shooting — an essential part of the game, mind you — is also frustrating. You really do have to take a full swing to get decent potential on a slapshot. That’s splendid, in theory, but with the nunchuck tethered to the Wiimote, it’s tough to get a full swing without getting tangled in the wire. (Maybe someone with a lesser arm-span doesn’t have that conundrum, but at 6′2″, I’ve found myself running into that conundrum frequently.) This could probably be corrected with a wireless nunchuck, but I don’t really want to fork over more cash for more accessories — especially accessories that duplicate the features of accessories I already have — just to play one game.
The motion-based controls DO make the game more fun, when they work the way you expect them to. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of getting used to; and even when you feel comfortable, you’ll still find yourself wondering what just happened on several occasions per cycle.
You could play with a classic controller, but at that point, you may as well be playing on a graphically-superior console.

This game really stinks. It’s too complex and frustrating. Maybe if I was 15 I could do this, but this long-time hockey fan has given up. I’m selling it and looking for something a lot more doable. Mario Brothers, anyone?
