Look no further than Sega Sports’ NFL 2K3 if you’re in quest of a more than worthy alternative to the established Madden football franchise. The game’s superb graphics alone are enough to draw in any fan, but its in-depth gameplay realism and ESPN broadcast presentation easily rank this as the finest football game Sega has released to date.
Thanks to its smarter-than-average artificial intelligence, NFL 2K3 sports a somewhat steep learning curve that requires sound football simulation instincts. Knowing your team’s strengths and weaknesses will ultimately be a huge help if you hope to win at the game’s advanced levels. Be prepared to mix up your play calling and make adjustments instead of thinking the same ancient reliable plays will get the job done. Of course, practice mode is always there if you need to work the kinks out of your game plot and master the multitude of offensive and defensive sets at your disposal.
Graphically, sports sports meeting don’t come much better looking than NFL 2K3. Among the highlights: player animations are amazingly realistic and lifelike, and a wide array of facial emotions appear that are relative to game scenarios; stadiums are painstakingly re-made to take on nearly postcardlike feel; and replays access a wide variety of angles to place you right on the field or in the stands.
One area in which NFL 2K3 easily aces Madden is its game commentary. As part of the game’s ESPN broadcast presentation, announcers Dan Stevens and Peter O’Keefe call every bit of the action in varied detail. Their comments are far removed from stale Maddenisms, offering worthwhile play breakdowns, player assessments, and quips that don’t make you wince in disgust (at least not too often). I rented this game and it is very hard. I can’t even score! Although the graphics are cool and it looks realistic, it’s just flat out hard. It is pretty fun, but that and the graphics are just about all the cool stuff yer gonna get! I tried to rent Madden but is was already rented. If you want right football, chose a Madden.

I was sucked in by the price tag. With that much of a price difference from Madden, how terrible could it be.
Worse than I could have imagined.
If you happen to like football sports meeting where your offense has no flow, running is only slightly more impossible than passing, you play as hard as you can, and get blown out anyway, and then end up turning off the game and never playing it again, NFL 2k3 is the way to go.
If, but, these are not the traits you are looking for in a football game, skip it and get Madden (any Madden).

I have heard a lot of trash being spar about the quality of this game versus Madden. The fact is that most people I have shown this game to visibly see that it is superior to Madden. 2k3’s commentators are much, much, better, and the graphics are better than Madden’s. Don’t believe me? Go to the store and look, or read about it online. You WILL be able to play this title on the impending Xbox Live network, so you can play your friends and complete strangers online, but if you buy Madden, you will NOT be able to.
Go with 2k3.
