This will bring back all those splendid memories while you play your NES roms and other gamnes using the best, most comfortable controller in existance. Being able to use it with my NES roms is icing on the cake, live on NES!

This controller does exactly what I wanted it to do. It allows me to play original NES roms in my emulator while pretending to be ten years ancient again. It’s splendid. I haven’t had any of the difficulties other people have mentioned. I don’t reflect it feels particularly flimsy. Hopefully my d-pad will hold up. The only thing about it is it’s a one-trick pony. I’m new to the retro-gaming and found using keyboard controls awkward for the sports meeting I used to like. When I saw this product, I felt it a moral imperative to buy it since it replicates the look and feel of the original both in affect-scheme and complete lack of ergonomic design. One-trick pony-wise, but, I’ve now come to realize that while this rocks the house (y’all) for NES, it leaves me a few buttons shy of SNES or Genesis sports meeting. I probably should’ve left nostalgia on the shelf and bought a more functional usb controller for all of my new-found gaming needs. But, if you’re like me and would gladly buy something just for the kitsch and for the ability to show it off, buy two.

My wife and son like to play ancient sports meeting on a PC with an emulator. This unit puts them back in the action. Far superior to a computer keyboard.

When I saw this, I was excited about the prospect of playing the sports meeting of my childhood on my computer with the look and feel of the original (minus the blowing on cartridges). I loaded up an emulator, setup the controls to work with this controller, and started playing. Straight away I noticed that while trying to go around, Mario would stop in his tracks. The D-pad is so sensitive, while you’re critical right or left, the slightest movement of your thumb will press up or down. This renders Super Mario Brothers unplayable.
Also of note, the buttons stick up further than on the original controllers, and feel less squishy. The start and brilliant are also hard plastic and don’t feel authentic (but, that’s really not a HUGE issue). All in all, this was a huge disappointment; I guess you get what you pay for.
I’m now looking into an adapter for my original controllers from RetroZone, or just dusting off my 20+ year ancient console for when I feel the need for a SMB fix.
