the last live i played that was any excellent was 2005. i thought that since this was 09 and it has the 365 and all that hype i heard that this would’ve been a excellent buy. it is not, the 365 is cool but the gameplay to me is absolutely terrible. there is no rhythm at all with the players. the shots look like shots taken by girls from the wbna. the ball seems to just be thrown at the hoop rather than shot and fade aways look like the players are drunk with legs flying up in the air. thats not how it’s supposed to look. live 05 is still the best in my book.

I ordered this for two teenage boys who do not have much interest in basketball. I ordered this and a NCAA 09 football game. Visibly this video game did not capture their interest as well as the football one did. They play it occassionally, but they definately like the football one better.

NBA LIVE has a better playcalling system, drops down on the break really simple that’s my favorite new edition, outside of LIVE 365. But LIVE 365 has a dark shadow across it, because the gameplay is still not up to par with NBA 2K9, not even close guys. This game is simple as pie to pick up and play. Online is pure garbage still straight dunking, but the connection is splendid and the game lobbies are splendid. The pick and roll mechanic is nice. The cut scenes are really nice, the menus are splendid, the game modes are nice, but the graphics stink, and the player animations are terrible, so unatural, players go liek drunk sailors trying to dance at a disco. Defending the dunk is near impossible to defend. NBA 2k9 wins easily as the bball game of the year, this is the first time I crossed to 2K9, NBA LIVE gets a 6/10 from me. NBA 2K9 is maybe the best bball game ever a 9/10, only thing 2k9 lacks is game lobbies.

I’ve played the Live series off-and-on since 96′, and reflect that the gameplay just hasn’t been the same in the last few years, especially compared to the 2K series.
I have 2k8 and have played 2k9 and they just feel more fluid; the gameplay is quicker, the controls are more open, and 2k is simply more fun.
The excellent with NBA Live 09′
- The 365 is awesome. It is splendid to have constantly updated rosters, the hot and cold streaks, and the ability to play recent game. This is the only thing that I will miss when I dump NBA Live for 2k9;
- The graphics in the game are splendid, I can’t complain; and
- The DNA is a clean twist, though I reflect it makes the game a small more complicated than I care for in person.
The terrible
- Still not even close to 2k9 in terms of gameplay. The game feels choppy, everything seems to have a lag, and it’s just not that fun.
- The game takes forever to load. It takes like 5 minutes to get into a game and the training stuff doesn’t really help kill time;
- The commentary is repetitive and feels very canned. There is barely anything outside of the beginning of the game–no real halftime show or anything–and it’s irritating it takes so long to load; and
- The shooting feels awkward.

You cannot use the roster update feature with multiple profiles on the PS3, all my kids can’t play this game…
